• Maura - Mom. Used to think she was flaky...boy was I wrong. She'll support most anything her kids wanna do, so long as it ain't evil. She's been one of the best mothers anyone could have, and I never really noticed until recently. She's got a lot goin' on, but don't we all? I really gotta start helpin' out more.
• Graham - Dad, Pop. He was killed, I don't know who by. But by all the gods, they will pay.
• Byron - Ron, big bro. I killed him...he stabbed himself, but...I killed him...
  • Cathy - Ron's missus. She's a sweetheart, a real honey. Don't get to see her that often, though. With Ron gone, I've got to take care of 'em...but in the end I still couldn't protect her. Whoever did this to her is gonna pay.
  • Byron, Junior - Ronnie's a great kid, just turning three this year. Without a father, he needs someone to look up to...I'm not much, but I'll do what I can. He's too damn young to be dealing with any of this, and now he's gone missing, kidnapped or worse...poor kid.
• Elise - Lissy, big sis. She's like Dad, she doesn't think much of what I do, but she puts up with it. She's married now, and seems as happy as she's ever been. "One will find the lover and be free"...she did that all right. She's finally hit the breaking point...I hope her life after this'll be easier. I wish I could've done more...
  • Andrew - He was a good man. I got him involved at his request and it got him killed...another death that's my fault.
• Juruda - Rudi, little sis, kiddo. Rudi and me are the closest of us kids. "One will find herself and the struggle of her people"...she's found it all right. I just hope she keeps in touch...and keeps safe. She seems to be doin' okay. she's the most important person to me. Ever.

Friends

• Honest Eddie - My agent, he's a great guy. Got a lot on his mind recently, but he does what he can for me. I'm sorry he's gone...

• Alsa - the director. Seems an okay guy. Good at his job, too. Real damn shame he's gone...he's missed.
• Alice - she's got a tongue, this one. The less I have to put up with her the better I'll feel...little brat broke my window. She seems to be growin' up a bit, though. Least she's startin' to care about what happens to people. Well, people that aren't me.
• Tilluel - Mage/Leader? She's a sweetheart, and the closest thing to a leader we got now that Alsa's gone, I think. I'll help her how I can. No one is ever gonna touch her as long as I can help it.
• Angela - Lead's Second. Got a real head on her shoulders, tough gal. Definitely someone to respect. She's a good teacher, knows more'n me about real fighting, and I'm glad she's helpin' me out. Looks like she and Alice worked something out...
• Quacklin - Leader? the gnome's an oddball, but then most gnomes are. Good guy, though he can get panicky. Knows his way around machines, gotta give him that. Just gotta be careful he doesn't kill us all.

• Julia - I acted too quick, made a mistake. She might coulda been an ally, but now...I need to learn from this.
• Clarkson - Seems a good enough guy. We could probably get along.
• Tako - She's a crazy dame. Best steer clear. Especially since I made her collapse...still not sure what happened or what the doc did...
• Donna - Somehow I get the feeling I'll be shot if I try to ask for my job back...
• Scissor Man - Back, but we'll keep beating him like we always do.
• The Gripper - Well, I know why he left that note, and who he is...but I don't want to think about it. Enough to know he's on my side

• Death Herself - I'm starting to gain a new respect for her, thanks to Reaper...I will keep my promise to him, give her more the respect she deserves.

Feelings and Ideas

• My Role - I am the Warrior, the muscle, the attack dog. And I'm okay with this. $
• Challenges - Limits are made to be pushed...I think I should do that more carefully now, though. But there's a time and place to be careful, and I'm startin' to think that there won't be a time before this is over...
• My dark side - I don't like what I'm turning into. I need to get better control.
• My Fortune - "One will lose himself and his good fortune, but opportunity will always find him" Not sure what my good fortune is or how I'll lose it, but it seems pretty accurate so far. Feels like I got some of it back now, at least...
• My Soul - Somehow I lost it, and I didn't even know. It was taken, but I don't know who by, or why...someone powerful, close to godlike...I got to find out. Sherry had it, but it's back now...sort of. So close now...gotta keep on. $
• The Prophecy - It's come to pass...completely.
• The Dreams - They're pretty disturbing. Gotta find a way to stop them, fix whatever's gone wrong.
• The Deaths - People are dying because I couldn't help them. Worst of all was my own brother. And now it looks like some of 'em may really be 'cause of me. No. Never. Again.

Goals

• Make it as a real actor, not just a stunt guy.

You see reevers on the high seas and people of Kearin stock in massive, dark military camps (Agikaani breeding camps). You see madmen, drawn to horrible things, bearing your blood, and wild adventurers. You see a book with a lock.

[04:10:37] * Gabe blinks as that sinks in, then nods again.

[04:13:42] Quothar: "WASH THEM IN FIRE, BURN THEM IN FROST! THE SKY WILL OPEN AGAIN!"

[04:14:31] * Gabe has no idea what to make of that, but assumes it's something to do with the Rains.

[04:16:26] Quothar: He convulses strangely, then says, "TALE OF THE BLOOD! BRIDGE OF SYMBOLS! CONVERGENCE!"

Cocky, sure of himself, one of those 'Live like you're gonna die tomorrow' adrenalin junkie types. He's sure he could make it as an actor if someone'd just give him the chance...just no one has. Yet.

Good stuntman, he's had his share of broken bones, cuts, burns, etc but keeps going back for more. He loves the thrill of it. If/when he does become an actor, he's the sort who'd do his own stunts.

Insists on going by 'Gabe' though he answers to 'Corbannon' or 'Corby' as well.

Handsome devil, and knows it. Has sufficient ego to tell stories about his various scars to interested parties. ["See this scar here? Got that back in '82 jumpin' off a train-trestle bridge in Twice To Die. See, I had to..." etc]

Questions asked of Gabe(sparked by the asking of "So to get rid of the animals, we have to find this paper? Is it a book?"): "What would it take to get you to embrace your inner darkness? What would it take to make you kill your own flesh and blood?" (No other choice, apparently...) "Something paltry like money? Women? Comfort? Power? Or something interesting? Eternal excitement, perhaps? Would you cross the threshold of the damned for a thrill?" (no) "Would you kill a family member to save a family member?" (Yes.) "Would you give your life for your soul?" (if there were no other way, maybe? [Probably, but he won't admit it.])

Missionary - Champion of Inhumanity, a newer Champion. He and his Converted reject their names and seek out victims. They commit atrocities. They twist people, usually the unfortunate or down on their luck, into inhuman monsters. And they all take titles, "The Devout," "The Rapist," "The Stalker." They are said to be part of the Church of Spiders, or at least allied to it.

Sword of Inferno - It's a blade made of pure flame, curved like a scimitar. It gives the wielder an immunity to heat and the ability to become smoke. It also controls and creates fire, and it's said to be hot enough to melt anything, given time. Depending on the user, you can get other effects, and Mastery of it can lead to different sorts of fire being involved--demonfire, angelfire, and so on, though Mastery is rare. It was last known to be in the hands of the Demon Lord Hurrun in the Godless Times. That was over almost 10000 years ago, though.
