| Description | Flutters appear to be slightly anthropomorphized butterflies. They are small--about 1' tall--and beautiful. They range in coloration so widely it is impossible to predict how they will appear. Their wings are scaly and huge. One in ten thousand have huge mouths filled with fangs. They all have very long antennae. |
| Procreation | Follows the mother. |
| Magic | One in two million have soul magic. One in a million have heart magic. Mind and body magic are possible, but mind is more common. Void is possible. Faith is not uncommon. |
| Special Powers | Flutters' coloration is stunningly beautiful. They have excellent vision, mimicry skills, and endurance. They taste with their feet but eat with their mouths. Flutters live not just the 4 stages of arthropodal animalmen, but also stages of a reincarnation cycle that culminates in stunning beauty. Flutters have surprising talents for war. They are naturally resistant to heat. They can sense when their lovers are approaching and when evil is near. They have the ability to interpret dreams and the ones with massive jaws have either good or bad luck edges.

| Weaknesses | Hatred magic and faith can hurt them. |
| Culture | Flutters are sacred in Galdun. It is said that in the earliest years of the Galdish tribes, the humans there were constantly at war. The tribes fought over territory that belonged not to them but to the flutters, whom they all loved for their beauty--each tribe warred over the flutters themselves. So it was that ten powerful flutters, each born with monstrous jaws, sought the ten leaders of the Galdish tribes. They challenged each to single combat, but the leaders refused to risk harming the flutters, and so the flutters slew them outright. They then called the next in line of each tribe. The new leaders went to meet the flutter leaders, and the flutters told them to share the territories with them. They used their powers to weed out the evil men in the tribes, bond lovers together, and put out the fires of war. For a generation, the tribes lived in harmony, and then, to one of the lesser families of the tribes was born a child with a birthmark shaped like a butterfly. This was the promised sign that a king would be born that would unite the tribes, for the child was the child of people from two different tribes. Thus, the line of Galdish kings was born. Flutters live simple lives on their own, communicating via colordances and living off nectar and pollen, much as their mundane versions do. They have no kings or rulers, but live in communes based on their reincarnation cycles. They protect the orchards where they keep their chrysalises, and otherwise try to keep to themselves.
