Description

Demi-fiends are skinny, dark-skinned beasts with human-like shape, though very short (3'). They have holes in their arms that look like bleeding black sores.

Fiends are winged demi-fiends, with a little more height (5') & a long black balde for their left arm.

Greater fiends are like fiends, but with more height (7') & hellspars on their back in place of the blade arm.

Archfiends are like greater fiends, but taller still (9'), & huge black horns burning with hellfire. They have no hellspars or blade arms, but carry huge black lances.

Procreation

Demi-fiends are the lowest of the hierarchy of fiends, & only reproduce with each other, creating more demi-fiends. If a demi-fiend somehow has a child by a more powerful fiend, that child will be a demi-fiend. If a demi-fiend has a child by a non-demon, that child will not live past birth, nor will the mother. Demi-fiends reproducing with non-fiend demons generally do not survive. Any chance children from the encounter will be weaker versions of the mother, or demi-fiends.

Fiends procreate with other fiends. If they procreate with a demi-fiend, it will produce a demi-fiend. Other types of fiend always produce normal fiends. Other demons follow the mother, & non-demons generally have half-demons.

Magic

For demi-fiends, 1/200000 have soul magic, 1/1000000 have heart magic. They are capable of learning body or mind magic, but very rarely do. If they have faith, it is darkness or despair at 7ish. They can use void normally.

For fiends, 1/200000 have soul magic, 1/1000000 have heart magic. Body and mind magic are possible, but not too common. They can use void regularly, & generally have a small amount of darkness or despair faith (3-5).

Special Powers

Demi-fiends have very few powers, for they are creatures made to be fodder. Anyone looking upon a demi-fiend must roll will power or be overcome by terror, briefly (about 3 seconds). This gives the demi-fiend one round to see if he can survive. Furthermore, demi-fiends have the ability to hurl black darts at will (coming out of strange holes in their arms). These darts are pure unholy energy in solid black spikes. They can tear through chainmail like it was cloth, & make plate mail look like leather armor. If a person is injured by these darts, they will suffer minor soul damage. If they are killed by the darts, their soul will be pinned to the spot until the demi-fiend (or one of his friends) can get to it to devour it. If a demi-fiend devours 1000 pure souls, it will become a normal fiend. Dark magic or faith can be used versus a 10 difficulty to raise or control a demi-fiend. Fiends or more powerful demons can control demi-fiends at will.

Anyone looking at a fiend must roll will power or be absolutely terrified for a full half-minute. Like demi-fiends, fiends have black darts that they can shoot from their arms, with the same power as the demi-fiends' darts. They are immune to mundane fire & have wings. They also have one long black blade for their left arm, which works in the same manner as the darts (thus, when fighting fiends, demon slayers approach the right with large shields & the left with swords drawn). If a fiend consumes 1000 pure souls, it will become a greater fiend. It is a 13 difficulty to control or summon a fiend with dark magic or faith.

Anyone looking at a greater fiend must roll will power or be absolutely terrified for a full minute. Like fiends, greater fiends have black darts that they can shoot from their arms, with the same power as the fiends' darts. They are immune to mundane fire & have wings. They also have hell spars growing out their backs, which they often break off to use as clubs or maces. If a greater fiend consumes 1000 pure souls, it will become an archfiend. It is a 16 difficulty to control or summon a greater fiend with dark magic or faith.

Anyone looking at an archfiend must roll will power or be absolutely terrified for a full three minutes. Like all fiends, archfiends have black darts that they can shoot from their arms, with the same power as the fiends' darts. They are immune to mundane fire & have wings. They have lances of pure darkness that they wield from the backs of daemonsteeds, rending souls from victims & causing great destruction, as well as massive black horns that burn with hellfire. If an archfiend consumes 1000 pure souls, it will mutate. It is a 19 difficulty to control or summon an archfiend with dark magic or faith.

Culture

The fiend family of demons are the infantry of the demon armies. Thus, the demi-fiends are the front lines. They are fodder for the foes of Hell. They are generally found in groups of four (units). They are almost always under the command of a fiend, who in turn is under the command of a greater fiend, who is under the command of an archfiend. Demi-fiends are the smallest & weakest of the fiends, & they often get put to work on projects too important for any sort of low demon.

Fiends are the commanders of the demi-fiend units. Four fiends comprise a company. (so that's 16 demi-fiends, 4 fiends). Fiends who are not serving as infantry sergeants are usually seeking souls to gain power. They are brutal & dangerous, using their innate abilities to hunt down the weakest & purest. They are too high ranked to serve as laborers, but they often find themselves running messages or overseeing works.

Greater fiends command companies of 4 fiends & 16 demi-fiends. A group of 4 greater fiends is commanded by an archfiend, & is called a platoon (4 greater fiends, 16 fiends, 64 demi-fiends). They are too high ranked to serve as laborers or messengers, but they often get forced into overseeing important work or working as a kind of greater servant to truly powerful demons. When they are free, they pursue souls, seeking to become archfiends & acquire unique abilities. They are cunning & brutal, never traveling in groups when they don't have to.

Archfiends command groups of 4 greater fiends (thus having command of 4 greater fiends, 16 fiends, & 64

demi-fiends). This is a platoon. Groups of 4 archfiends are commanded by more powerful archfiends, eventually comprising the massive armies of the Hells. When not serving the army, archfiends do all the planning for the army, or they pursue souls. Mostly, however, they plan for the glorious campaign that will take place at the end of the world.

There are no notable demi-fiends. All notable demi-fiends become fiends. There are no notable fiends. There are no notable greater fiends. Esagan, child of Greneja & a powerful fiend, Master Archfiend, Commander of the Main Force of the Infantry of the Hells.
