| Description | Empty sockets have four stages: null, negation, devoid, and singularity. The null stage is a black ball of flesh with one ocellus marking. The negation stage is when that becomes inside out and the ocellus caves in, leaving a hole that seems to have no end. The devoid stage is the adult stage, growing stalks that end in suckers and a larger chasm of an eye socket. The final stage, singularity, is when the empty socket caves in on itself and becomes a pinpoint of pure void energy. |
| Procreation | Either by infusing other Zeronysian eyes with void, or by laying eggs in pools of void. |
| Magic | Only innate void powers. |
| Special Powers | An empty socket at any stage has an aura of void about it that prevents any magic from passing through. A null simply floats there and absorbs void. As a negation, it begins being more active. Their socket pulls in both void and magic. As a devoid, it levitates on its own, & has stubs (eyestalks with no eyes) that emit blasts of void. To look into the empty socket of an empty socket is to risk losing all magical ability whatsoever. They "see" on the void scale. As a singularity, it is a blackhole of void. |
| Weaknesses | Extremely powerful magic can unravel the void powers. Thaumasine can also weaken an empty socket. |
| Culture | An empty socket roams the Void or the Grey Lands seeking sources of magic to devour. They gather in small groups to do this, increasing the void energy in the area. |
| Notables | Qua'dath, the bloated empty socket orbiting Shem. |
