A Kren'atanic soldier who has it all figured out, more or less. He is the son of Arsul Toutant and a human woman. Slender where his father is broad shouldered, he still has the patchwork skin--scale and green piebald mixed--and small tusks, but no tail. He has an affinity for water, a tendency to bellow when he mates, and a lust for importance.

During his time as a soldier, he rose to the rank of General of the Army in Kren'atan before retiring at the age of 39 after a wound left him with a distinct limp. He took to adventuring in his free time and eventually met up with his father. The two became good friends, and Arsul noted, after about 200 years, that Dukat did not seem to age much. At 243, he was yet young and energetic in form, seeming to be about 25. Dukat remained reticent to discuss it, and Arsul respected his wishes.

Through the Ages, Arsul and Dukat stuck together, dodging wars, or joining them, playing the occasional show, giving the occasional prophecy, looking in on other Toutants, and keeping tabs on old friends. Eventually, Arsul found the patch where he could wait on his Hand, but the two decided to come back to it closer to the Time, an indistinct moment Arsul knows will come eventually.

Dukat's life as a soldier and general left one virtue firmly instilled in him: honor. Having read the Tara'hinian Code, Dukat was taken with it, and vowed that should ever there be a nation like that again, he'd try to be one of them. When Tara'hin did rise again, Dukat put in to be a Knight of Tara'hin, but his limp prevented him from serving. Instead, he became a military adviser to the Tara'hinians for a while, and he wrote the series of books Tactics With Honor: How to Win a War With Dignity for All.

During the Age of Decline, after too many wars and adventures, he and Arsul have temporarily gone to the patch to wait a while and rest, and seek other avenues of interest.
