| Description | Drwggwerin appear to be tall, muscular humanoids with sharp, broken fangs and claws. Their skin ranges from sulfuric yellow to burnt orange. Their eyes are black pits, and they have no hair on their heads. Their legs are covered in blood-red fur. They stand 7' tall on average. |
| Animal Form | A drwggwerin can take the form of a burning yellow serpent (as long as they are tall in their humanoid form). In this form, they can breathe hellfire, their bite is extremely poisonous, and they can control other serpents. |
| Procreation | Drwggwerin reproduce sexually with other drwggwerin, cythreuliad, demons (size- and shape-permitting), and abominations. With other beings, it must be supernaturally influenced to be possible. |
| Esoterica | Drwggwerin are beings of infernum, ambrosia, and arnum. They can wield the arts of these well, as well as the arts of other infernal and arnic energies, all forms of msawhat, shadow, rending, entropy, void, spirits, Damaskian powers, blood energy and other humors, Raesian energy, viscera, nommos, emotional resonance, psionic energy, ancestral memory, poioumenon, kor, yahas, and any form of aether. |
| Special Powers | Drwggwerin can speak to serpents. They have the power to steal souls with their gaze if they have mortally wounded someone. They are immune to mundane cold or heat. |
| Touch Powers | The touch of a drwggwerin burns with hellfire. It will blister and scar the skin of any mortal and cause soul damage. |
| Demonology | Because of their infernal and arnic energies, drwggwerin can be bound, controlled, and captured like demons. They cannot be summoned, however. In order to bind a drwggwerin, one must splash it with pure water and speak demonic chants backward. To control one, one must steal a piece of its fur and place it in a bottle of holy oil of annointment. To capture one, it must be tricked into standing in a mystic circle made of pure water. |
| Divine Purpose | Like all inmortal beings, drwggwerin have a spark of Divine ambrosia within them. In exchange for this and the immortality it brings, they must do services for one of the infernal Divines. For drwggwerin, their purpose is to go among the mortals and spread torment in order to drive them to acts of violence themselves. |
| Weaknesses | Any heavenly energy harms them. Pure water burns them. Prayers to certain Divines can force them to flee. Messianic invocation is as effective against them as against undead, abominations, or demons. |
| National Culture | Drwggwerin live in small bands in the darkest parts of forests. Each band is led by an alpha (yn gyntaf), usually a male but not always, who dominates the band through cruelty. The band is split between hunters, raiders, and slaves. The hunters and raiders serve the yn gyntaf directly. The yn gyntaf decides to whom each slave belongs when they are captured (slaves can be other drwggwerin or victims of other nations). Slaves take care of all the domestic labor, raising children, and even administrative tasks. The hunters spend most of their time tracking beasts for food (animal souls are not as nourishing as mortal lives, but they suffice). The raiders spend their time in combat, fighting and robbing and taking slaves. The yn gyntaf is the most brutal raider or hunter. Courtship among drwggwerin is rarely romantic; because affection is considered a sign of weakness, even those who care for each other hide it and engage in brutality instead. Partnerships rarely last beyond a few weeks and are often combative. Any children are raised by slaves. From a young age, they begin training in violence. By age of 14, they are left to take care of themselves, fighting for food and a place in the band. Only the strongest survive. The death rate of children is very high; though they will not die of old age, they often die of violence or starvation. The drwggwerin have very few customs outside of violence and their demonic religion. They sometimes feast after a good hunt or are forced to honor the yn gyntaf. Some bands create special customs of their own based around their own histories. They wear little clothing, and only ornamental clothing. They do work on special crafts, usually ornaments of bone, skin, and fur or feather. Most important to them are their weapons, usually spears, swords, and axes, crafted with fell energies. |
| Religion | Every band has a powerful demon they devote themselves to through blood sacrifices. If there are no suitable slaves for sacrifice, one of the weakest hunters or raiders is chosen. Sacrifices happen every triple full moon. They view their demon overlords as intermediaries between them and the infernal Divines. The yn gyntaf is the chosen speaker for the demon, and if the demon is displeased with the yn gyntaf, it will often kill them. The demon overlord will often reward powerful drwggwerin with demonic powers, which they use to build power within the band. They have no values but power. |
| Outside View | Drwggwerin are feared by most mortals. Some other powerful infernal cultures view them as potential allies or good warrior-slaves, but most view them as competition. Many mortals think of them as demons. |
