Origins

Destroyers formed in the Rending, a massive hole in the universe caused by an unknown event, that is said to be slowly obliterating reality.

Description

There are two main types of destroyer: hexars and morags.

Hexars appear to be 7' tall, four-armed humans in orange robes. Their hoods are tall and pointed and completely cover their faces.

Morags appear to be animals made of ash-black stone and large blue, glowing crystals filled with acid. Types include dragon, wasp, bear, troll, human, sword, scorpion, bull, and worm. The only types with heads are human-type morags, but neither is capable of speech. The eyes of a human-type morag are empty pits that destroy energy.

Procreation

Destroyers spawn in the Rending, hurtle through the universe, and land on various planets, where they begin obliterating the world around them. It is possible for wielders of slitna to summon them by ripping a hole in reality.

Powers

Hexars can summon raw slitna in the form of destroyer lightning, a yellowish black lightning that simply eradicates all matter it touches. If one looks under the hood of a hexar, their minds dissolve. Morags have glowing blue acid in their body crystals that can melt anything as a potent dissolving fluid. If they have mouths, devouring anything will simply make it not exist. Mostly, they rely on their massive strength to break things. The eyes of a human-type morag destroy other esoteric energies.

Weaknesses

Genesis aether harms them.

Nations

There are no true nations of destroyers. The division between hexars and morags is simply a difference in physical form.

Culture

Destroyers exist on Shem mostly around the islands of Abaddon, two massive volcanic islands with huge lava lakes within the central Island Bridge. They are drawn to this spot because of the slitna there; they land there when they come near Shem after traveling lightyears across the universe or are summoned there by hexars or hexologists. Once there, they essentially operate as forces of unnature, obliterating matter and life around them. They are not mindless, but they communicate without voice and mostly exist in service to mortals with a desire to destroy the world for more nefarious reasons.

Esoterica

Destroyers are beings of slitna. They wield no other energy.

Religion

Destroyers do not have any kind of religion. They are subject, however, to many religions. Some doomsday cults, organized religions with eschatonic ideologies, war-centric religions who use them as weapons, and religions using them to obfuscate other sources of damage to the world use destroyers as part of their faith.

Military

Destroyers are often bound magically to various infernally oriented militaries as siege-breakers, weapons of mass destruction, or shock troops, but they do not have an organized military of their own.

Outside View

Destroyers are viewed correctly as horrifying sources of violence, destruction, and terror by pretty much everyone.

Notables

  • M'zshostha, the Arrival, the Great Destroyer, the Morag Egg, a massive ovoid morag figure that sits within the lava lakes of Abaddon and is said to be awaiting the end of the world to hatch

Estimated Populations

There are about 500 hexars and 2,000 morags on Shem at any given time.
