Description A derecho appears to be a string of thunderstorms in a bow-shaped pattern.
Procreation A derecho will spawn a new derecho when the number of small storms comprising it gets too many.
Magic One in ten has soul magic; one in a million have heart magic. Mind magic is possible. Body magic is not. Void & faith are possible.
Special Powers Derechos are living storms & have all the properties of a storm. They are highly self-controlled & extremely violent, but not evil. They absorb moisture in an area & release it as rain-waste. Derechos are capable of becoming merely threatening clouds at will, but they rarely do this.
Weaknesses Certain weather conditions, especially dryness, will harm a derecho. They have cyclical lives, living for a season, becoming dormant, living for a season, etc. During the dormant stage, magic & faith can easily be used to rid the world of them.
Culture During their active seasons, they spread across the land of their choice slowly, building up power & absorbing moisture, often traveling in small family groups (numbering as many as 50 storms, or 5-10 derechos). They can be convinced to become merely cloud-like by impassioned arguments from the individuals in the areas under them.
