The Revered Mother

History

In the earliest days of Shem, when the forces of nature drove mortality, certain members of the primitive societies that existed then noticed & took to revering these forces, seeking power over the world & safety from the ravages of nature. From this primitive idea of nature worship grew organized religion.

In the Age of Dawning, in the earliest days of civilization, the cycles of the moon affected mortality greatly. The ones who worshipped the moons knew that to keep the madmen, the lycanthropes, & those who took to shadow to do their deeds from mastering them, they had to appease the Mother of the Moons. Thus, they began to watch the moons &, in order to honor them, they tried to emulate them in an intricate dance.

Legend has it that the first time these dancers decided to perform this dance publically, in a series of dances over the course of a lunar cycle, one particular dancer drew the attention of all who came. A strange girl whose grace was amplified at night, upon the culmination of the dance, at the Full Moon, she was visited by the spirit of the Mother of the Moons & danced all the parts at once. She glowed brightly with moonlight at first, then slowly shifted through the dance to the darkness of the new moon, becoming one with the night. When the dance was over, she spoke with authority & power, & created the order.
