Effervena are extremely poisonous, while their counterparts are not. Effervena have many powers, varying by individual. Amongst these include minor weather control, Havens-portals, water control, frost-forming molting, vocal impersonation, illusion creation, & mesmerizing undulations. Couatl, their male brethren, lack any of these powers, but each breathes a different kind of gas (with a wide array of effects). Their senses of smell are incredible.

Couatls & effervenas are sacred to the peoples of Vimala & the Island Bridge are honored amongst them. They serve them as judges, justicars, & wisemen. They always come in pairs, one of each, & they always work to help the peoples of their territories.
