| Description | Copper dwarves are known for their copper-hued hair which turns green with age. They stand about 4' to 5' tall, and they have skin that ranges from grey to pale peach. Braids and beards are often worn, and they are broad-shouldered and stout. |
| Procreation | With each other. Half-dwarves are not possibly without esoteric intervention. |
| Esoterica | Dwarves are aetherial beings, born from the earthpower imbuing the stones they are crafted from. Copper dwarves are also beings of hegnh and The Law. They are capable of using any other supernatural energies except entropy, but msawhat is rare and often corrupts and destroys them. Divine energies, other forms of aether (especially white tiger), ethereal energy, Foundation, dumaqu, arnum, poioumenon, Damaskian power, and mashoaab are all very common. |
| Special Powers | Copper dwarves' aetherial power allows them to know their way through caves, climb mountain sides, and work devices with innate understanding. They gain power from fashioning devices and gunsmithing, but if they violate a law of wherever they are, they can lose their powers and skills. If they obey a law despite a need or desire to otherwise, they can gain energy from The Law. If they defend others, they gain hegnh. This translates into powers of protection, of understanding complexities and systems, and of making devices. All dwarves are known for their steady feet, their inborn toughness, and their shrewdness. |
| Weaknesses | Msawhat can corrupt and destroy them. Copper dwarves are also weak to entropy. |
| Culture | Copper dwarven society is very structured. They live in a society of laws and hierarchy. The thane is always the most revered lawmaker and/or judge from the parliament, which is made up of servants of the law elected from the clans, which are a strict hierarchy of dwarves based on age, skill, merit, and necessity. Families are always composed of two parents and their children (if possible). Extended families make up a clan, which intricately ranks the families based on their contributions to the clan's honor and ranking in society. Children attend schools run by the clans, but with curriculae determined by the thane and parliament. Religion is controlled by independent churches, which take their membership from orphans and independent dwarves mostly, but sometimes dissatisfied members of clans. Famously, members of parliament have retired to the clergy when upset with the running of the nation. Craftsmen belong to guilds, but the guilds must answer to parliament. They are essentially lobbying organizations that answer to strict rules. A guild's charter has the power of law. The guilds are powerful but considered secondary to a life in service to the clan or the law. The military and the police answer to parliament and the thane, though each clan has its own guardsmen. Clansguards are considered internal law enforcement and defenders of the clan, but fighting amongst the clans is forbidden except under very special circumstances. In times of crisis, the military will conscript all the clansguards save those necessary to defend specific locations or people. |
| Crafts | Gunsmithing is what copper dwarves are most known for, though they are not proud of it. They simply gained the reputation worldwide and use it as their main source of outside income. The gunsmiths gain hegnh and The Law from following the strict rules of their guild and supplying the clansguards and police and military. Because they do not wish to be culpable for the crimes of outside entities, strict laws are set for whom can buy a gun from a copper dwarf gunsmith. Thus, gunsmiths gain aetherial power from working with their stone tools and hegnh and The Law from the way their guns are used. They never recruit, but let apprentices come to them. Mechanical workers are also a revered guild which is where copper dwarves have their most pride. They make beautiful devices of metal and stone that serve the community and the law, making them very powerful. They actively recruit from the schools, and the thane is often a retired mechanical worker who moved on to the parliament. |
