This creature is only ever witnessed at night, as it seems to shy away from light. It appears to be a very tall, very thin creature, vaguely man-shaped, black, with a head and beak like a kingfisher on a long thin neck, with disproportionately long and thin arms that end in oddly human hands for grasping and picking up.

It is frequently spied in cities, carrying a large pack on its back that looks to the average observer to be far too big for something of its apparent frailty to carry. This pack has been found to contain junk of all kinds: broken toys, bits that have fallen off machines, lost jewelry, broken spectacles, loose change. Anything man-made that can be lost or dropped would likely be found in a collector's pack. The collector is afraid of anyone who approaches it, and therefore skulks about at night, collecting, and runs if it thinks it has been detected.

No one knows if it is solitary or if there are others like it, if it is intelligent, or simply possessed of the same instincts as a packrat, though it does apparently know how to make use of its oversized bag or pack. No one really knows what it eats, or why it collects otherwise-worthless junk.

Theories include that this creature is a cursed creature of the god of Wealth, a blessed creature of Famine, a creature of Harvest, or some joint project between more than one god that went wrong. No one knows where it lives, if it has a horde, or what it would do to defend its collection, as no one has been able to corner it or catch it. The only reason anything is known about the contents of its pack is because of a vision-priest who happened to see one in his yard one night. In general, however, there has been no evidence that it makes any trouble.
