| Description | At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, cobalt dragons grow to be pale white and thick blue-scaled stegosauruses with massive claws and razor sharp fangs, and more slender bodies. They scar themselves for fun. |
| Procreation | Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching. |
| Esoterica | Cobalt dragons absorb mass amounts of despair resonance and arnum. Rending, various negative resonances, and infernum are also common. Damaskian power, white tiger aether, and winds aether are common. Flesh power, psionics, and pattern aether are not uncommon. Blasphemy and divine energies are equally common. All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects. Other common powers include heartdraining, instill grief, cause loss, wipe memory, and eternal tears. |
| Alternate Forms | Cobalt dragons sometimes take the form of an ogre. |
| Weaknesses | Hope resonance and happiness resonance can hurt them, and so can radiance. |
| Subspecies | Tear dragons are cobalt dragons with more despair resonance than normal. They seep tears from their bodies, which are sleek, cobalt wyrms. They breath a burning blue flame that damages emotions and destroys joy, and their visage can inspire depression. They sap the will out of those they gaze into the eyes of. |
| Culture | Cobalt dragons lay their eggs in burrows on the steppes. They abandon their eggs, and one in five survive to maturity. They are solitary beings, only mating out of desperation. They build their hoards through slaves and servants, which they gather from local communities. As they grow old, they most often commit suicide, but some are hunted by other dragons. |
