Endruin
An empire in southern Ansulym, along the southern coast east of Deseria. It was founded 3,300 years ago, though its calendar reset 1831 years ago with the Corona Alba Concordantiae (White Crown Concordance). Endruin is ruled by three empresses. Each of them leads a political faction who are constantly vying for power and control. After the last civil war (about 2,500 years ago), the three factions - Reod (Red), Hwit (White), and Gylden (Gold) - have been at an uneasy peace.
- Capital: Ventacast
- Largest city: Haenor
- Population: 20,000,000 (counting free peoples and slaves, but not the colonies)
- Size: 300,000 sq. mi., roughly the size of the U.S. South (not counting the colonies)
Haenor
The largest city in Endruin's imperial core, a major financial hub. Home to a 600,000 free people and half a million more slaves. Gas lamps, cobblestones, and row houses dominate the city, though some parts are nothing but muck and mud. In the west, an industrial park known as Wyrtun chokes the sky with smog and smoke. Down the middle runs the Ryftrike, a massive river that ends its journey on the southern end of the city. In the river mouth, small, sandy islands are home to fishers, while to the east, mansions and sprawling grounds are home to the wealthy and the remaining nobility.
Haenor is a major sea port and minor river port. It is run by an elected city council, all of whom are well in the pocket of the financiers and slaveowners of the city, and an appointed lord-mayor, who is supposed to be a neutral party between the three major political factions. Currently, the city is not dominated by any of the factions, though each is trying constantly to gain an upper hand.
The city is latticed with pipes running above and below ground, through and over the river, and along many roads and rails. These pipes carry both hot and cold steam that are used to power various machines in the city, gas used for lighting, and some very fancy ones carry sewerage from the richest homes.
The Grith has its hideouts, safe-houses, and areas of control throughout the city, and some areas are more off-limits to them than others.
Neighborhoods
This includes outlying regions as well as the city proper.

It is instead where a handful of nicer homes are situated along the water. Hebban Road: the road that crosses the bridge and runs west to east in the city
Hropan Way: the light rail running through the city, failing to go to Flodweg, Gyldendun, Healmur, Wyrtun, Misiholm, Pulnestle, Whitbroll Island, Soltungul, Lammuth, and the outlying areas of Duskcern, Lentrive, Purbent, and Upswach.
Lagustraet: the main thoroughfare in the west, running north to south
The Langirn: the main thoroughfare in the east, running north to south
Lantern Man: a ghostly figure who walks the foggy streets at night, well past midnight, holding up a lantern to guide the way for the lost... or to take their souls. Might have a home in Soltungul.
Macanne Bridge: upriver bridge, less impressive than the Hebban, but still a life bridge.
The Old Highway: a smaller road leaving the city in the north
The Ryftrike: the river
