| Description | Blue glowing eyes surrounded by blizzard winds; a frosted, animalistic phantasmal silhouette with sharp fangs and glowing eyes; or a figure made of ice and snow |
| Corruption | When a mortal who is corrupted dies in the bitter cold snow, alone and forsaken, they may be corrupted to become a chichrekh. |
| Esoterica | Chichrekh are beings of msawhat and brumal aether. They retain very weak versions of the powers they had in life, so long as they are not of qi, the gates, heavenly essences, solar or summer aether, or positive resonances. They can learn very few arts in undeath, but those they can learn are msawhat-based, arnic, void, or infernal. |
| Special Powers | Chichrekh cause unease in those who see their glowing eyes. Their fangs can rend flesh despite being phantasmal, and their presence brings bitter cold blizzard winds, which they can control and use to devour emotions. They can form a physical body made of ice and snow that is supernaturally strong and unharmable by mundane weaponry. Those they kill become lesser chichrekh--only able to form the physical form--who are enslaved by them. |
| Necromancy | Necromancers and brumalists can create a chichrekh by luring people into the cold, convincing them they are completely alone, and then killing them ritually (12) with a special weapon made of ice. If the body freezes completely then shatters, the soul is released as a chichrekh. To control a chichrekh, one must trick them into entering a fragment of clear, pure ice, then demand its loyalty for release. This can also be used to capture and draw its power. To summon a chichrekh, one must draw a sigil in ice and place intense emotion into it. A medium may channel a chichrekh, but the risk is that they will not only be controlled by the phantasm, but also frozen to death. |
| Sending | If a chichrekh can be trapped in a place of high temperatures (80+F) for the duration of a day, they will be sent. |
| Weaknesses | Solar aether, summer aether, honor resonance, rubedian aether, and desert aether are the most effective, but any qi, the gates, positive resonances, or heavenly essences will harm them. |
| Behavior | Chichrekh hunt those who wander the cold and drain them of life and emotion. They create lesser chichrekh and form packs that stalk the permafrost. |
| Dominion Culture | In the Wapek Dominion, chichrekh are considered part of the warrior class, hunters and killers, who enjoy privileges in the Dominion. |
| Other Dominions | Chichrekh are rare in other Dominions, almost unheard of in Dun, Campionese, Godless, Durosian, Qhanuum, Fellwood, and Agikaani. In Raesian, Srisian, Kaanian, Pandemonian, and Sangarian they occur rarely but are welcomed as hunters and warriors in the rare regions where it is cold enough for them. |
| Mortal Interactions | Mortals in the polar regions of the world view the chichrekh as part of the dangers of the cold, the sort of predators that are more terrifying and dangerous than mundane ones. They are part of the reason no one in the polar regions wanders alone in the cold. |
| Afterlife | Chichrekh can achieve redemption with the right energies sending them, but this is rare. Usually they spend many millennia in the in-between before moving on to the Grey Lands. |
