Motivations
- Passions: pursue excellence in ones craft(s) to the point of testing outside limits, and more self-consciously, to pursue balance in all things (yes these conflict in reality)
- Convictions: those who are able have a responsibility to push the technology that improves all our lives forward, even when the corporations and other forces stand in the way. society would be much better if our technology was truly directed toward serving needs than corporate power.
- Relationships: others are difficult, yet my life's work is for them. Shem often repulses me and never feels like home, but perhaps nowhere ever will, so i owe it my service and i must continue to make the most of it.
Background
Chendjioer was born before the destruction of Bran in Ages past. During the world's end, she and her father, a jise'bran named Kuelfoere, survived in a small enclave with other Brannish folk in a protected colony off-planet. After the end of the Divine Wars that brought such devastation, they eked out a living amongst their people in the diaspora amongst the asteroids and remains of their worlds. Eventually, they found ships capable of interstellar travel and began seeking new places to live. During the apocalypse, they had heard rumors of a large number of their people escaping to safe worlds elsewhere, and they set out to find them.
For uncountable years thereafter, they traveled, visiting other worlds, seeking news of their own people, seeking new places to settle. Their small collection of survivors dwindled as they found homes, lost themselves, or simply passed on. Chendjioer picked up technological skills on the ship and on other worlds she visited, and she learned that she could find quick acceptance by being useful. She picked up skills and insights into other cultures (and a taste for a particular pungent crab sauce) as she traveled. Over the years, she lost track of the time she had been moving, and at some point, she moved on from the diaspora ship to make it on her own. She moved through other planes, through far parts of the universe, and perhaps, she suspected, through time.
Eventually, she heard concrete evidence that the remnants of her world from so long ago had settled on the world of Shem, and she made her way there. What she found is a civilization somehow older than she was, removed from what she knew of Old Bran, but still recognizable. She settled into Shem and began using her skills from eons across the universe, but found also that her outsider's perspective at times put her at odds with how things worked on Shem. Her mouth got her into trouble.
She now works as a freelance astrocomm engineer and technologist. She experiments in her free time with accessing the Seams/Metanet without using standard protocols. She's had some success, but found only gibberish.
