Power Level

The power level of your character (at the start of the game) should be similar to that of the other players. Consult with the GM to know roughly what power level you should be aiming for.

Human Levels

  • Childlike or very low: 1-4 average stats. Only use this if the game is explicitly all children or very low-powered for some narrative reason.
  • Young adult or low: 5-6 average stats. Only use this if the game is explicitly young adults or low-powered for some narrative reason.
  • Below average: 7-8 average stats. People in training, nearly entirely mundane characters.
  • Average: 9-11 average stats. Every day folk.
  • Above average: 12-13 average stats. People with special skills. Every day folk who have focused in at least one area.
  • Elite: 14-16 average stats. People with a lot of experience or exceptional skills.
  • Superelite: 17-19 average stats. People who among the leaders of their fields.
  • Legendary: 20-22 average stats. On the upper edge of human limits.
  • Beyond human limits: 23-41 average stats. Humans who have exceeded what mundane humans can ever achieve.
  • Beyond mortal limits: 42-104 average stats. Humans who have exceeded what any mortal can ever achieve. Humans who have become inmortal and pushed back.
  • Beyond inmortal limits: 105-115 average stats. Not merely inmortal, but Divine.
  • Beyond Divine limits: 116-315 average stats. No merely Divine, but a greater figure like a nepesh, logos, Eldritch, or other embodiment.

Other Species

Other species' levels differ from that of humans. While this may vary greatly by species, here are some general guidelines:
  • Adelfoi: mostly similar to humans, but with greater ancestral connections that give them a slightly higher PRS or AWA.
  • Aliens: vary greatly by species. Consult individual species pages. However, destroyers are always above elite in power, usually above legendary. The contagion are viral; players playing the contagion would actually play their vessels (another species).
  • Animal folk: vary greatly by species. Consider the animal basis for the character and use that to gauge comparative to humans (i.e., bear folk would be much stronger, cheetah folk much faster, bird folk lighter of frame, etc.). For the more drastically different species (sponges, for example), consult their species pages.
  • Constructs: homunculi are much smaller and therefore weaker physically. Golems, mechanicals, and gargoyles are all much stronger and tougher than humans. Froemmlers, the Baleful, hollow children, and abominations are constructed to be monsters with higher stats. Ambages are literally buildings and therefore probably unplayable except in very specific circumstances.
  • Dragons: most dragons are huge and therefore much stronger than other mortals. However, even smaller dragons build up power much greater than other mortals, making them only playable in very high powered games.
  • Elementals: vary greatly in power by individual, usually. Ka'ar, chthonians, undines, dryades, and sylphs have similar stats to humans, but with above average supernatural powers that are inherent to them. Nightgaunts and crystal folk are slightly larger than humans and so have higher STR on average. Myconians are smaller than humans on average and therefore have lower STR, but their fungal senses are usually higher, meaning better AWA. Similarly, fluers are smaller than humans by a bit and have lower STR, but higher PRS. Other green folk vary greatly in size, depending on the plants they are based on. Viridianites vary by individual and can be adjusted to any power level. Mahpiyatuwawa are generally much more powerful than humans.
  • Illittum: illittum are generally more powerful than humans, adjusting up by a scale of 3-6 more than average for humans.
  • Inmortals: inmortals are much, much more powerful than humans.
  • Insinsis: insinsis are usually smaller of frame than humans (-2 to STR on average) and have greater mental focus (+2 WIL on average).
  • Insubstantiates: insubstantiates are beings without bodies and their STR is... complicated. Their AWA is usually a little higher.
  • Metahumans: metahumans tend to be on the human scale, but with one or two stats above average depending on their powers, except Wathites, who are generally a bit more powerful.
  • Spirit folk: spirit folk usually operate on a slightly above human average scale with special powers. Giants have much greater STR, obviously. Trolls, ogres, vaettir, cyclopes, centaurs, minotaurs, geliqurofi, and others are larger than humans as wel. Some very specific species may differ greatly. Some fairies, diwata, and others are much smaller or much larger, for example. See individual species pages for more.
  • Undead: power levels for undead vary greatly by what they were in life and what kind of undead they are in the afterlife. Usually, the undead are not allowed for players, as they are universally evil.
