| Description | At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, dragons grow to be long, sleek castory skinned worms with the heads of moles. |
| Procreation | Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching. |
| Esoterica | Castory dragons absorb mystery in vast quantities. Shebv heya, shadow, yahas, poioumenon, kor, flux, and paradox are not uncommon. Divine energies are not unheard of. The gates are very common. Lunar aether is common. Mana is common. Other powers vary. |
| Special Powers | Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:
All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects. Other common powers include invisibility, silent walk, grant stealth, and reveal mystery. |
| Alternate Forms | Castory dragons sometimes take the form of a caerthorin. |
| Weaknesses | Loud noises can hurt them; exposure can hurt them. |
| Subspecies | Lost dragons have accumulated so much mystery that no one remembers them or can sense them. They exist outside connection with others and learn all the secrets and mysteries there are. They have the power to draw someone into their realm once per year, and they can erase people with a touch. |
| Culture | Castory dragons lay their eggs in hidden crevasses in mountain caverns, and they fiercely guard this secret until their young reach maturity. At maturity, they begin seeking new mysteries and secrets to bring back to their tribes. Their secretive cabals spy on the world around them and are led by the ones with the most cunning. When they grow old, they simply vanish. They mate opportunistically. |
