His argent-fire power is that he can ignite his eyes with it & see on a scale of life to death (as opposed to light to dark), knowing what is close to death & what isn't.

The third child of Paul and Viollca, he witnessed a murder at a young age and never quite dealt with it. An agent of Srisia who "happened" to be there spoke with him, laying the seeds of his future doubt. When he saw that his father was not omnipotent in protecting people, he began to study necromancy in secret, with a vengeful heart. When he was caught animating small animal corpses one day, he and his father had a full confrontation that ended in Cary running away.

Cary ended up first in the north of Maraddon, where his arts are, while frowned upon, were not actually illegal. With an odd necromancer in the north, he enhanced his power in the dark magicks & learned that, due to his father's Gifted power, he, too, has the powers of Justice within him. Everytime he uses undeath magic, his soul & body react. While it is usual that the soul be tarnished by the use of the powers of corruption, his bodily alteration is quite drastic. At first it was just a paleness of skin & gauntness of body. It continued until he was almost skeletal, as white as a sheet, & his eyes had black circles around them, his lips were pale blue (like a corpse's), & his body stank of decay.

Then, at the age of 200, he sailed to the ruins of ancient Kael'Ras in southeastern Ansulym, to the Necropolis. He stood at the Throne of the Champion & said the ancient words of power that would summon the Champion's attention, then performed the Rite of Marrow. With his bone-blood dripping onto the floor of the throne room, he declared his dedication to defeating Death herself, avenging all the wrong & sorrow death has brought into the world.

He became a Servitor of Undeath & tarnished his blood, causing his argent-fire ability to alter to not just show him what is alive & what is dying, but to also speed up the process of those he gazes upon.

In performing the rite, he removed his right hand halfway between wrist & elbow. In the process of casting the magic, the Justice in him stripped him of flesh entirely. Now he is merely a one-handed skeleton in black & gray robes, with black, burning eye sockets. His first action after this was to summon a skeletal rukh & fly to the mainland, where he purchased a slave.

First, he enchanted the slave to look like his former self. Then, he cut the flesh from the slave, slowly but surely, & stitched it around his skeletal frame, giving himself the appearance of a living thing.

Now he seeks a way to kill Death herself. He bears the curse of having to replace his flesh every few months or so, & having to keep from using too much undeath magic, lest he lose even his skeleton.

It is said that within his ribcage still beats his red, fiery, vengeful heart, & that only Justice, tempered with Mercy, can truly kill him.
