The current whereabouts of Byron Wael, as of 1003 post-Starfall, are unknown.
During the Age of Terror, Byron Wael was an instructor at one of the many medical institutes in the Realm of Pestilence, the "Rat Sector." He was a retired researcher who had discovered over two hundred new strains of virus over his career, believing that they were being studied for the betterment of mortality. As an instructor, however, he became aware of the design of the curriculum to brainwash and trick the average student into thinking that the sinister agenda of the Champion of Pestilence was a righteous path.
He began to see the writing on the wall, quite literally, when one day he woke up to see the Runner Sign, which he was now able to understand. He slowly but surely began to change what he taught during his classes, while keeping an eye on the administration. The night before he was to be arrested, he noticed Runner Sign advertising the coming of a "white keeper," one of the pan-white pantheon priests who spread the holy word. Byron went to see her.
The woman, Runner 433, spoke with him and found him to be an apt choice for a Priest of Light. She ordained him, and told him to move his fight west to the Bone Sectors.
Following her advice, he declared himself Runner 2001 and left. After a few months, he fell in with another group of Runners and aided them in a confrontation with the Champion of Undeath, wherein a blessed missile damaged the Champion's body. Byron lay low after that until the Great Exodus, where he took back up his teaching, this time also with the usual work of a Life Priest: births, blessings, and minor doctoring.
When the time came for the Runners to return, Byron went to spread once again the powers of the Silver Mother, and when the opportunity for the Mountain arose, he annointed himself with the powers of Life and took it.
As Champion of Life, he has created a corps of
Silver Scholars, learned men and women who wander and teach life-saving skills and techniques, from CPR to preventative medicine. They correct misconceptions and old wives' tales, and they fight the powers of undeath, pestilence, filth, and evil wherever they can.

Byron appears to be an older human, perhaps about 60, with a frail body on a just broader than normal frame. His hair is a grayish silver, and his face is lined with worry. His eyes appear to be ancient. He carries with him a heavy quarterstaff and he is deceptively quick and sneaky for an old man. He often rides an old mule.
