| Description | Brownstone gargoyles appear to be friendly beasts made of brownstone. They have the faces of dogs, apes, lions, or bears, and their bodies are big, bulky stony things with ridges, wings (usually stone-feathered), and stubby tails. |
| Procreation | New brownstone gargoyles must be constructed from brownstone. |
| Esoterica | Beings made of hegnh, they have an affinity for hegnhic arts. They also sometimes wield heavenly energy, dumaqu, Foundation, damaskian power, gebvel, fate, earthpower aether, winds aether, ordinal muscle energy, and kor. |
| Special Powers | Seeing the injustices pervading so many cities, the Mother of Equality crafted brownstone gargoyles from the stones of the buildings to bring protection to the meek and exploited. As such, brownstone gargoyles bind to a territory--often an apartment building or slum or even homeless camp--and protect it (sometimes in the face of the local law enforcement or landlords). They can sense danger within their territory to the building or its tenants, and they have the ability to choose a tenant (up to 12 at once) to take wounds for (usually the children). The building will stand as long as they live. |
| Stasis | Brownstone gargoyles only go into stasis only if they feel their wards are completely safe. They do this to extend their lifespans. Time listed above does not include time in stasis. |
| Weaknesses | Arnic or infernal energies can harm them. |
| Culture | Brownstone gargoyles choose a building or area in a city where the poor and exploited dwell, and they bind to it. They then spend their lives protecting those who live there as best they can. They are often viewed as a nuissance by the rich, the authorities, or the bosses, but the poor, the workers, the oppressed love them. Brownstone gargoyles raise new gargoyles and teach them how to serve others, then when they are about 100, they bid them to go find their own territories. They have great meetings every few years where they congregate to socialize, trade, and discuss problems. Sometimes they work together on a territory, forming a small family unit, if the territory is too big (size or population) for one gargoyle to handle. |
