| Description | Brimstone dwarves have dark black hair and skin tones ranging from dusty grey to palest white. They are stout, stocky, and broad-shouldered. Beards and braids are commonly worn. |
| Procreation | With each other. Half-dwarves are not possibly without esoteric intervention. |
| Esoterica | Dwarves are aetherial beings, born from the earthpower imbuing the stones they are crafted from. Brimstone dwarves are also beings of infernum. They are capable of using any other supernatural energies, but msawhat is rare and often corrupts and destroys them. Divine energies, other forms of aether (especially white tiger), ethereal energy, shadow, arnum, poioumenon, Damaskian power, void, and mashoaab are all very common. |
| Special Powers | Brimstone dwarves' aetherial power is to see in the dark and to their skill in crafting stone. Working with stone and earth allows them to gain earthpower, but they also need to gain infernum through acts of violence and malice. Common powers they gain from this include draining light from an area into the stone, controlling others through stone artifacts, and brimstone flame. All dwarves are known for their steady feet, their inborn toughness, and their shrewdness. |
| Weaknesses | Msawhat can corrupt and destroy them. Brimstone dwarves are also susceptible to heavenly essences. |
| Culture | Brimstone dwarves live in a strict hierarchical society in their mountain nations. They are led by a powerful thane who is chosen through extreme political machinations, and who uses his power to select a court of supporters (often very treacherous all the same). They value cunning and strength, and any weakness is to be exploited. Because they gain power through their works, however, all brimstone dwarves take part in crafting. They keep slaves for non-earth or malicious crafts, but they do the important work themselves. Brimstone dwarven families center around control and exploitation. The head of a family (male, female, or otherwise) chooses a favorite child to train and raise, and the others are left to fend for themselves. It might not even be their own child, as they exploit their extended families if they can. They wield their inheritance and their power over those closest to them in order to keep them from rebelling or usurping them. There is a strong religious order within brimstone dwarven society, which is a cruel and dark faith that demands ritual sacrifice, demon worship, and tribute from all in blood or treasure. They are a counter-balance to the power of the thane, but they do not often delve into civic affairs, so long as the tributes keep coming. |
| Crafts | Brimstone dwarves work in stone and metal and blood. They craft tools from hides and stone and bone. They form weapons and jewelry of dark power. They shape stone into horrifying shapes and places of power. They gain earthpower from stone-work, and they gain infernum from the acts of violence and manipulation and exploitation they manage from their works. Brimstone and demonsteel are commonly used to improve infernum as well, and they are known for their cruel weapons of torture and murder and control. Their most unusual craft is weaving. They make wonders of gossamer and other threads, often of dread beauty. Their weavers are some of the most heralded in the world, and they are feared within brimstone dwarven society. Their tapestries are often woven with dark powers that are subtle, manipulating and controlling people who are not aware and defended. |
