The Peregrine Issue:
An intensive exploration of the peregrine falcon and of yankiir (falcon-men). Includes description of a trip to Palhur to find them, and confirmation of the fact that peregrines are included in the yankiir umbrella.
Search for new animals:
Details exploration of regions where Mwyr Aeld used to be. Includes notes about histories found in ruins. Conclusions include that Aeldian civets were popular pets of Aeldian nobility (and popularly farmed for their scent glands), sables were commonly farmed for their fur, and that variraraptors now roam the region. Grass snakes are also common.
Animalmen:
Llwymogarthdyn: Translates literally from ancient Mwyri as "fox bear man." An animalman based on the Aeldian civet. A lithe bodied figure with a cat-like body and an otter-like face. Black and blue fur, spotted with white. Would stand about 5' tall. Would have musk. Given their history as status-pets, the aspect of Jade Obelisk (envy)'s inherent social class warfare could be reflected in these.
Bele'rdyn: Translates literally from ancient Mwyri as "sable man." An animalman based on the sable. Belinda notes in some languages, this could involve punning/actual insults to the Pantheon of Sable Night. Fur would range from light to dark brown, with black markings and light grey, white, or yellow patches on their necks. They would stand about 4' tall. She notes the animal has a capacity for burrowing that should be preserved in the anthropoid. Similar to the llwymogarthdyns, these could represent class warfare.
Madfallhebogdyn: Translates literally from ancient Mwyri to "falcon lizard man." An animalman based on the variraraptors. Smaller than the utahraptors of Taggarus, larger than the velociraptors of Ranu, the variraraptors are dangerous predators. The animalman would stand about 6' tall, while the animal is usually about 4'. The man would feature heightened senses, incredible speed, and very sharp claws and teeth. The pack mentality would probably be present, and they would be colored the velvet green shade of Aeld. They would have remarkable jumping abilities. They would represent the darker aspects of hunting, much as Genfyllid does.
Neidr: Translates literally from ancient Mwyri to "snake." Belinda looked at grass snakes, kraits, and copperheads and considered each of them for a role here. She rates the respective venom, coloration, size, and speed of each snake. She notes that grass snakes are common in Aeldian regions, but kraits are more deadly. Copperheads are a mix of the two. These would represent the cunning of Jade Obelisk.
Cwffyl Dwr: A waterhorse centaur. Fiery eyes, dark presence, intimidating presence, flight, shapeshifting, backward hooves, Connected to lakes, rivers, or the sea. The seaborn variant would be the most dangerous. Representative of intimidation and trapping.
She also has notes on a therianthropic version of sables, civets, peregrines, and variaraptors, but drops it because it's untenable.
Empathic races:
Belinda envisioned two variants on empathic races. One was an empathic race that preyed only on other empaths, except perhaps shortly after they've stolen from other empaths. They would steal the empathic powers of other empaths. They feel the emotions of others (neutrally), but have stronger reactions to intense emotions of any sort. This would have the downside that they could become addicted to them. She used this as a baseline, then switched it up to be possible for it to be a venomir style instead, with them stealing empathic powers from other empaths, then turning that into physical poison. Either one would work. Suggested names were Velvet Empath, Jade Empath, Velvet Venomir, or Jade Venomir.
Faeborns:
Gwiddonod: Gwiddonods would be a nymphish variant. They would be women who had natural power over people and animals, ride objects through the air, tell fortunes, and use powers to heal and cause diseases. They could take the form of a hare, and could only be killed with silver or magic. Her speculations would be that the aspect of Nickel Rose (wisdom) would actually be a weakness for them.
Mieri: Mieri would be a dryad variant that had its dual form as a young woman and a bramble patch. They would have similar powers to the gwiddonods, but would be more restricted to the thorn-based.
Humanoids:
Coraniaid: Short, stunted trolls with hearing so sharp they can hear any sound the wind carries. They would use this to avoid danger more than anything else. They would have a susceptibility to poison due to certain bodily requirements for the hearing. They would be numerous due to overbreeding. Would represent an aspect of cacophony.
Cewri: Gigans who would weave clothing from hair of their enemies. If they lose their own hair (especially their beards), they will be weakened. They would use standing stones for rituals. They represent vanity.
Pig-faced women: As children, these women would be normal. As they grew older, they would become uglier and uglier. If they met a man before they got ugly, they would, on their wedding night, be able to let the man choose between their being pig-faced to the man but beautiful to the public, or the other way around. If the man allowed them the choice, they would become nymphs. They would have pig-like behaviors, eating from troughs of silver and speaking in a grunting language. They would have but one child and have a skill for commerce. People who saw them would be disgusted, so they would spend much of their time avoiding others. They would represent personal sovereignty.
Could also be a nymph-subtype, but currently listed as an ogre.
Others:
Lyncungalon: A gondal-subrace. Literally translates from ancient Mwyri to "devourheart." They would pass through living flesh and consume emotions.
Helwyr: Literally translates from ancient Mwyri to "hunter." A cocidian subrace, they would appear to be cocidians, but with feathered skin instead of a horned head. Instead of direct prey empathy, they would have ender-like prey sadistic sensing. They would be able to control falcons.
Y Diawl: A demon that appears to be a horned, black-faced shepherd leading a pack of dogs, associated with a bobtailed black sow. It would have power over animals, the ability to steal souls through trickery by having others eat the sow, and the ability to shapechange.
Facestealer: An abomination. To doppelgangers as shadow-kin are to demons. This would be a faceless monster that would steal the faces of any who showed emotion around them, using their faces to shock others.
