Dionysus So, the shaping...

Dionysus Did you weave a dream for her last night, by the way?

Avery He didn't have anything specific in mind. Something about her mother.

Dionysus Then Aurelia, you dreamt a nice dream of your mother that night.

Dionysus The Song of Shaping: Avery. First, you roll to play it well.

Dionysus You have to be more specific. You're singing characteristics for the child. Powers, even. Attributes, personality...

Avery I'm working on it.

Avery perhaps...kindness, is that specific enough? or do I need to be more so?

Dionysus As a personality trait?

Dionysus The song's tendrils creep into Aurelia, filling her with a sense of kindness & gentleness, & then slowly float through the undeveloped child's skin, infusing it despite the power rearing up to stave it off. As the song ends, you feel certain you've just affected the personality of the child.
  • Avery isn't quite sure what to make of that, but is pleased with the success. he looks at Aurelia, a touch concerned. "...How do you feel?"
Aurelia How do I feel?

Dionysus No lingering supernatural feeling or physical feeling is there. So whatever you would feel.
  • Aurelia tilts her head, then smiles slightly. "It was good."
  • Avery grins a bit, pleased and relieved. "Good..."
  • Aurelia nods.
Dionysus Great! That's the first week. You have three more at sea...

Dionysus So, let's just do them here... Since we're abstracting the days, we won't worry about the specific dreams you send each night, but what's the next Shaping?

Avery Hm. I think he'll try for a healing power.

Dionysus What specific nature does the power take?

Avery Hm...I'm not sure. Avery has no basis of comparison for fae powers except his own...maybe something akin to an empath's healing skill? is that possible? a healing touch or something?

Dionysus The song infiltrates Aurelia, tingling her wounding nerves, but the child rebuffs the song this time, a wave of dark, fearsome energy wracking the both of you a moment, leaving you stunned & shivering.
  • Avery looks very pale after that. "...are you alright?"
  • Aurelia holds her stomach and nods faintly.
Avery "I'm sorry...I'll try something smaller next time..."
  • Aurelia nods again.
Dionysus Third week?

Avery define attributes. like physical?

Dionysus You can indeed do physical attributes.

Avery Hm. he'd ask Aurelia about those first, see if she had a particular preference for, say, eye color.

Aurelia Brown.

Avery Then he'll try for brown eyes.

Dionysus The backlash of fear & pain is strong this time, a wave that crashes & makes Aurelia's belly clinch & Avery's body quiver, like the whole of it was just cut in a thousand places, though no marks are left & no permanent damage done.
  • Avery staggers slightly, gritting his teeth.
  • Aurelia goes to her knees, holding her stomach.
  • Avery tries to catch her.
  • Aurelia shakes.
  • Avery holds her, protectively. he sets his jaw, determined to get his next attempt through.
Dionysus So... last one on the voyage>?

Avery He'll try for another part of personality. Honor.

Dionysus You were supposed to be telling me how you alter the song to fit these attributes, which would also affect difficulty.

Dionysus So for this one, you can save your karma if you give me a good description of how you use the song to sound like honor.

Avery Well, I'm not sure what the song sounds like of itself, but he would have altered it thusly: Give it more of a march-like rhythm, incorporate part of an old military song - the equivalent of the Marine's Hymn or the Ballad of the Green Berets, if you will - into part of the tune or harmony, and he'll also shift the tune to sound a touch more like whichever culture he's familiar with that sets

Avery the most store by honor.

Avery All things that symbolize honor to him.

Dionysus I like it. Well done. And the song sounds like an Irish jig, by the way, but in the time honored tradition of music, you can improv anything into, & change its pitch or rhythm to make it just different.

Dionysus The song soars, marches into Aurelia, this time, seeping in & charging militarily into the undeveloped child within her, instilling in it a deep sense of honor.
  • Avery is almost elated that it worked this time.
