Description Ath'schar stand about 7' tall. They have long, clawed fingers, bat wings, and glowing orange eyes. Their flesh is yellow and orange. They tend to be shaped like humans otherwise, but they will transform when they wish to attack, leaving the lower half of their bodies behind. Their entrails hang from their midsections as they attack. Their tongues become elongated and are capable of sucking out souls.
Procreation Ath'schar spawn from the spilled blood of other ath'schar who have become overfull from eating souls.
Esoterica Ath'schar are beings of infernal powers. Infernum, razdavit', quaestus, imperium, hollow energy, thorn energy, sin energy, fusei, and gossamer light are all commonly wielded by them. They also wield blasphemy, entropy, rending, void, arnum, cacophony, msawhat, misfortune, feirua, doom, parasitic energy, vile energy, pravum, brown aether, black nommos, uafas, hunger, desperation, cacophony, stavromenos, and baleblood.
Special Powers As infernal beings, ath'schar have the power to summon hellfire, drain lifeforce with their claws, draw power from minions, use psionic mind control, inflict soul pain with their gaze, vanish their own faces, glamour, cause disproportionate pain, and blind targets. The more souls they devour, the more powerful they become, often growing and changing with their consumption.
Service As servants of Ugolegndar, they can invoke its power by calling out the words Molaras Rhlachi. Ugolegndar will invoke its power at its pleasure.
Demonology

As infernal beings, ath'schar are subject to demonological ceremonies. They can be summoned as if they were a powerful demon, called into a circle of power with a major sacrifice (ritual murder or torture). Upon summoning, they generally are much less willing to engage in any contracts. They can be coerced or tricked into deals, and as such, they can grant any power that they themselves have, access to Ugolegndar's power, or if they know it, its Name. They will demand a major price (at least a dozen souls).

Capturing an ath'scha without using a major sacrifice requires taking part of their entrails and placing it in a circle of power, then overcoming the ath'scha's will. Once it is captured, the demonologer can wash in its blood and draw sigils of power on their skin in order to be able to channel the ath'schar's power.

Controlling an ath'scha is nearly impossible unless one's will is much greater than theirs. It requires summoning them with a piece of their entrails, then painting one's hands with sigils drawn in their blood.

Weaknesses Celeste water will burn them.

To seal or repel an ath'scha, one may use any celestial power, but especially celeste water, hegnh, or ujjval aatma. To repel, one must simply make a circle imbued with holy power. If one has part of their entrails, the sealing will be much more potent. One must construct a special box, about 6" by 6" by 6", made of dogwood or other similarly holy wood, carved with either words from a holy book or legend, the Name of a powerful holy being, or prayers directed at a holy Divine. The entrails or some symbolic object of the ath'scha must be placed in the box, and then the ath'scha must either be lured to let their shadow fall over the box or to touch it.

Culture

The ath'schar dwell in the city of Dis in the Infernal Realms. It is ruled by their Queen, S'icanthigul, queen and high priestesss, who has a hundred thousand slaves. She has an elite cabal of knights and her councillors, and beneath her are the noble servitors. She rules with an iron fist, and any who displease her are fed into the great infernal vortex that brings Ugolegndar power, in the hopes it will one day be freed.

Their day to day lives are spent hunting the Hells for wandering souls to sacrifice. Hunter groups are sent out at the behest of the Queen, with one of her knights leading them. A third of the captured souls go to the vortex, a third to the Queen and her inner circle, and the rest are split between the hunters. Almost all ath'schar are hunters.

When a new ath'scha forms, it is an adult, though an ignorant one. It is more or less cloned from the original, though some variations occur, but eventually they differentiate as they consume souls.

Religion The ath'schar worship Ugolegndar, whom they view as the most powerful being in reality. They worship via sacrifice, casting captured souls, lesser demons, and each other into a massive infernal vortex at the center of their city. S'icanthigul controls their religion and who and what is sacrificed. No other ceremonies or worship is done--just sacrifices and torture.
Gender There is one Queen, who is female, and the rest are male.
Military The entirety of ath'schar society is a massive army under the control of the Queen. It is led by her knights and nobles, and the rest are hunters and non-ath'schar slaves.
Other Nations There are no other nations of ath'schar.
Outside View Often, they are confused for demons, though they mostly enslave lesser demons and view greater demons as rivals.
