Description Ashurites are mostly hairless beings with a few stray hairs on the top of their heads. They have sleek, blue skin of varying hues, and long, thinly framed bodies. Though they sometimes take on some weight, their bone structure keeps them generally smaller. Their fingers are long and their heads narrow. Their skin has patches that are translucent as they get older.
Procreation With each other, it follows the mother. With other demihumans, humans, and pseudohumans, it varies, but mixed nations are very rare.
Esoterica Ashurites are beings of ethereal energy and mashoaab. Though once they were more beings of yahas than ethereal energy, they changed after the energy spread through Shem after Starfall. They also use yahas, poioumenon, mana, hegnh, dumaqu, radiance, msawhat, flux, some forms of aether, gebvel, fate, and spirits.
Accumulation As they move through stone, they absorb metals, which they convert to ethereal energy and mashoaab, mostly ethereal energy. When they are full, they must release excess ethereal energy, which they do by touching the head of another ashurite (usually sharing with someone in need) or by temporarily bonding to something else then breaking the bond. Sometimes during this bond, they take on some property of what they bonded with. The process takes about five minutes. At around the age of 120, they reach their accumulative capacity maximum, which never gets full. They stop releasing their excess and begin bonding heavily with all things around them.
Special Powers Ashurites can see in low light and are resistant to high and low temperatures. They can sense metaphysical connections, relationships, and bonds other people have, though this power is relative to their own fullness of ethereal energy.
Weaknesses Cacophonic energies harm them.
Culture

In ashurite communities, who you know and are connected to is the most important thing. The first connection one makes is with one's mother while in the womb. From there, every ashurite's life differs, forming a complex network of connections, relationships, and the occasional disconnection. Every ashurite community is an extended network of networks, and the ashurites with the most connections by default become the leaders. Their influence allows them to know the best people for every task, every role, every need, and everyone ends up connecting with them as they try to get what they need.

Children in ashurite societies are raised by their mothers until they can find them a school or tutor to take them on. From there, an ashurite usually trains, studies, or practices a craft or occupation until they have made enough connections to start off on their own in their chosen field. They are considered adults around this time, no matter what age they are. Courtship varies by individual, but it is considered the building of one of the most important connections of an ashurite's life. They are non-monogamous, but they usually have a primary partnership--and they take all connections very seriously.

Though connections and relationships are the most important part of their lives, they by necessity adopted a money system that allows them to trade with other nations. They keep most of this in a communal bank, however, and use bartering as their main form of internal trade. When they trade with outsiders or form connections with them, those connections rarely have an impact on the internal social standing of an individual in ashurite society.
