Dionysus The quarry is near the elevator to the underground, & is full of stern looking dwarves moving heavy rocks. It's the only part of the city not dominated by females.
Sue I look for anyone who appears to be selling or trading lead.
Dionysus A mountain dwarf with a rough cough & a clipboard greets you as you approach, in Dwarven, "Can I help ya, s--*hack*?"
Sue "I require lead."
- Arsul flinches back from the cough
Dionysus He continues to hack harshly, a dry, grating sound that makes you think less of Arsul's cough than of someone choking to death from smoke inhalation. "We got lead. How much ya need?"
- Sue considers. "A cubic meter should be enough."
Dionysus He frowns, writes something on his clipboard, apparently calculating, "Right. We should be able to cover that. You want it cut first?"
Sue "Cut? Shaped?"
Sue "I intend to use it to transport uranium."
Dionysus "Yeah, we got it in chu--" he lets loose another cough, "Chunks. Big ones. We'll cut off a chunk of the right size, but if you want it shaped--" another cough "Shaped, it costs extra. Slabs, then?"
- Sue nods. "Yes, I'll need to pay someone to shape it anyway."
Dionysus He nods, "Give us the dimensions for the--" cough "--slabs & we'll get someone on it."
Arsul "He sounds terrible." he says to Sue when he's done with the man.
Dionysus He notes them, pausing to cough some more every now & then, then says, "Great. That will be [a thousand dollars]."
Sue In that case, Sue offers to have the empire pay for it.
Dionysus He asks for bonafides of your nobility (which we've never gone over, but at this point, I'm sure they were supplied at some point), then arranges the lead, saying it will take a day or so.
Sue Before leaving, Sue says, "I've been on the surface a long time. Has there been any news from Uodzupuul?"
Dionysus The dwarf starts to speak, then coughs harshly for a bit, "I just get--" another cough. "I just get mining news. If you want word on void-bearing ores, I could get you--" another cough, "I could you figures."
- Sue nods sadly. "Thanks anyway. I'll be back tomorrow."
Dionysus He nods, using his beard to wipe spittle from his mouth from the cough, then goes back to work.
- Sue leads Arsul away. "Prophet," he begins, "can you answer a couple of questions for me?"
Arsul "Of course."
Arsul "Well, I can try."
Sue "What will happen if I go to Uodzupuul before we leave? Will I come back? If I don't go, will the fighting continue?"
- Arsul frowns. "Fighting in the void temple?"
- Sue nods. "Right."
- Arsul frowns. "Let me try to find your answers."
- Sue waits patiently.
Arsul seeks.
Dionysus Your vision is obscured by the darkness of the void temples.
Arsul will Sue return from city
Arsul How will Sue affect the fighting within the temples?
Dionysus Your vision is obscured by the darkness of the void temples.
Arsul What will happen if Sue goes to city?
Dionysus A splintered vision--some where followers of the Never attack him, some where he vanishes into nothingness, some where he leaves there overflowing with void power, some where he leaves the same, some where he leaves with a following--some with void followers, others with Never followers, some where he is killed by void followers...
Arsul he's at a crossroads of fate like Aurelia
Arsul What could bring both parts of the void church together again?
Dionysus An short & incomplete list, including the death of either deity, the expulsion of the Never, the unification of the two gods, or the very unlikely expulsion of Quaigor.
Arsul nothing directly involving Sue?
Arsul in this vision
Dionysus None of them were that specific.
Arsul How can Sue help to unite the Void congregations?
Dionysus You see a vision...
Dionysus Of Sue giving various names to the Never, one a potent one of Shem (allowing him to kill Quaigor), one any name not of Shem (forcing him to leave), one where he gives the Never his own name (which vision goes black to you), one where he sacrifices something to Quaigor so puissant it allows Quaigor to crush the Never, one where he uses void somehow to siphon power off the Never (weakening him), several where he says the names of o
Dionysus ther gods & lets them kill Quaigor or the Never...
Dionysus It's powerful & in the Summer Country
- Arsul comes out of his trance
- Sue looks at Arsul eagerly.
Arsul "Sue? There are many answers for you. But not all will come to be."
Arsul "The trip could be good or bad and the resolution to the fighting within the void temples will have many other repurcussions."
Arsul "But I will tell you if you still want to hear."
Arsul "You will have to decide where your fate will lie."
Sue "Please. I need to know if I am going to make an irreversable mistake."
- Arsul frowns slightly. "There are no mistakes, just choices." He tells Sue about the possibilities waiting for him should he go to the city and also of how the fighting could end, both the big solutions and Sue's personal involvement.
- Sue just shakes his head at the possibilities in the city, but when Arsul mentions destroying or unifying the gods, Sue is stunned. "They could ... become one? Or be destroyed?"
>Sue< A turmoil of emotion from Quaigor, & even a tiny blip of emotion from the Never
Arsul "It seems only One can stand, wether it's together or not."
- Sue turns, staggering. "This naming is an even greater responsibility than I thought. I ... I have been instructed to give the Never an alien name, to banish It to an alien world ... but I worried that if that world were destroyed, It might return as a lost god a second time. This ... could solve that problem."
>Sue< Pleasure from Quaigor, a strong current of fear & anger from the distant Never
Arsul "You wish him gone?"
Sue "Politically, unifying them would be out of the question. The Void-Father understands balance. The Never is a creature of extremes. Merging their personalities could have unpredictable results."
Sue "The Never seeks the eradication of all existence. Preventing It from achieving Its goals is not a choice, it is a fact of our survival."
Arsul "Do you know what you will do then?"
- Sue sags. "The naming is still a far-off choice. I have to decide what to do today."
- Sue turns back to Arsul. "I will go and see what has become of my people. Then I will decide what to do."
- Arsul nods and smiles.
Sue "For now, let's meet up with the others."
Arsul "Of course."
Dionysus You two go to Valara's house?
Arsul yes
Dionysus Do you knock when you get there/
Dionysus ?
Sue yes
