With the deaths of so many Champions of Famine, Thereken knew he had to quickly replace his Champion and with one that would not waste its power on revenge.

He sent word out through his church to find a follower who would serve with patience and cunning, and many candidates were brought forward. Every one was deemed unfit, either too zealous and thus a risk of seeking revenge, or not strong or potent enough. Time was running out--other evil Champions would arise in his place at any moment.

It was near the last likely moment that Aremmon stepped forward. A drow elven archer in the military, she was a cunning, quiet warrior who put Thereken in mind of a certain drow elven sorcerer turned dark god. The risk in Aremmon was not the one Thereken had considered, but an even more grave one--would Thereken be replaced by this ambitious soldier?

Still, the risk of not having a Champion was even worse. Thereken allowed her to take the Mountain.

Aremmon, having grown up in the Age of Terror as a soldier wishing to be a Hunter, had long been passed over for the faithful of other deities--those in charge at the time--and harbored resentment toward the other dark deities. She had turned at a young age to famine faith to deny herself worldly pleasures and strengthen herself.

The Mountain was no cakewalk, but she survived, and she came down the new Champion of Famine. Instead of going to war immediately against the new Champions of Hope, she began to gather power. Knowing that the ancient groves of power would be a source of trouble for her, she sent her Servitors out, and went herself, and slew as many as possible, using their desiccated remains as building material for her fortress. This opening move earned her the title Treeslayer, which she has reveled in ever since.

Eventually, she made some alliances, but always cautiously, and never permanently. Self-sufficient, aloof, and powerful, she is plotting... something.
