| Description | At birth, all dragons look like large, pink worms. At maturity, amethyst dragons grow to be flying dogs with purplish fur. |
| Procreation | Dragons mate with each other only. Without intense supernatural interference, half-dragons are an impossibility. Dragons lay one to three eggs at a time. Upon hatching, a dragon immediately begins absorbing background energies. All dragon eggs are filled with pure, liquid draconic energy, which sustains the baby dragon upon hatching. |
| Esoterica | Amethyst dragons have accumulated vast amounts of fortune. Poioumenon, yahas, and mana are common. Currents aether, winds aether, and pattern aether are also common, as are entropy, radiance, and divine energies (except Law). Flux is extremely common. Psionics and karma are not unheard of. Fate is impossible, and msawhat can corrupt their fortune and turn them into peridot dragons. |
| Special Powers | Dragons gain new powers as they accumulate more energies. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, usually culminating with the twelfth ability when they accumulate . The usual progression of powers is as follows:
All dragons accumulate energies by absorbing them naturally from the area around them. As such, they must carefully cultivate their lairs to provide the right kinds of energies, hence they hoard appropriate objects. Other common powers include |
| Alternate Forms | Amethysts dragons sometimes take the form of a halfling. |
| Weaknesses | Fate or msawhat can harm them. |
| Subspecies | Fortunate dragons have accumulate more fortune than most and become vectors of wild luck. Amazing coincidences happen all around them and good fortune befalls those they like. Eventually, though, a major accident hits them and they fade away. |
| Culture | Amethyst dragons lay their eggs in nests on the coasts of temperate islands. They sometimes care for their young and sometimes do not (about one in six die). At maturity, they go off on their own, wandering the world, only to come back and bring back items for the hoard. The tribe has loose relations with other groups in their territory, using them for aid, hoard, and services when need be. They mate at whim and as they age, they become more and more accident prone until something kills them. |

| Special Powers | Dragons gain new powers as they grow older. At each stage of growth, they gain a new ability, culminating with the twelth ability when they reach old age. They are born with the ability to breathe wild luck. By the age of one thousand, they will have the ability to alter the odds on a situation at will, once a year. By the age of five thousand, they will have the ability to create a create a zone where odd and impossible accidents occur about them. By the age of nine thousand, they will be completely unable to be unlucky. By the age of twelve thousand, they will be impervious to magical or divine forms of confusions, so clear are their minds. By fifteen thousand, they will be immune to calming influences, magical or mundane or divine. By the time they are twenty thousand years old, they are able to grant another being one of their scales, bringing them good luck. By the age of twenty five thousand, they can grant good luck to anyone in sight. By thirty thousand, they can cause random incidents at will. By the age of forty thousand, they are able to appraise the value of anything in sight. By sixty thousand, they can see the threads of fate, & finally, by the age of seventy five thousand, any amethyst dragon can know instantly the risks of any given situation. Like all dragons, they can take on a smaller form at will from the time they reach maturity onward. This form, with amethyst dragons, is that of a halfling.

| Weaknesses | The threads of fate can harm them. |
| Culture | Amethyst dragons, like most dragons, are solitary beings, for the most part, only coming together under the reign of a greater dragon. They dwell in valleys and cause chaos about them, making bets with passersby. They have a fondness for young men on impossible journeys, and they go out of their way to aide them. |
