Lost Elf on his father's side, Wind Elf on his mother's

Alsa broke into the movies through comedy, when his improv troupe, "The Unexpected Elf Group" was picked up by the comedy legend Archie Challin as supporting cast for a short film. The members went on to other credits, mostly writing and acting, but Alsa went on to direct two other shorts Archie wanted to make but couldn't fit into his schedule. They were well-received, and Alsa then successfully pitched his first full-length feature: a serious drama based loosely on the legend of the Messiah of Hope.

"Sidney" was a huge success - the biggest he'd ever have. It had an un-self-aware sense of humor without sacrificing gravitas, phenomenal timing, ingenious visual effects, sneakily astute cinematography, and just enough sex to raise an eyebrow. Following the premiere, he was suddenly very popular. He attended the biggest parties and met the most important people. It was during this period that he joined the church of vision, on the recommendations of several his peers. Everyone wanted a piece of his next film, but it wasn't until three years later that he would actually make one.

"Directed by Alsandair Ipanym" appeared on three more Peccary studio films, each less successful than the last. They included a gritty, almost brutal war story ("Infantryman"), a somewhat lurid romance focusing on organized crime ("The Boss's Daughter"), and finally a return to his roots: a subtle comedy about local politics ("City Fathers"). The studios and critics concluded that Ipanym lost his touch in the years after "Sidney", and that he would never recover, but he disagreed on both counts, publicly citing a conspiracy to ruin him by outside forces. These forces, he claims, are frightened by certain details depicted in his films, and are determined to ensure that his inspirations never reach the screen again. Out of respect for his past body of work, no reputable newspaper has published his comments on the subject.

He owned a house in Uptown for years before moving to a one-bedroom in West Belle Point which he shares with painter/art dealer Paolo Goldvein, his gondal boyfriend. Alsa spends most of his time struggling to scavenge equipment and actors for his next film, a science fiction story which he is determined to make with or without studio backing. However, he could easily be convinced to try making a documentary, given the current state of affairs in the area. He has a little black book of potential actors' names and a supply closet in a studio warehouse which he still has sole access to, but no income, and soon, no place to live as his relationship with Paolo is strained to the limit.
