Forms Akaz take many, many forms. The most basic is living earth or stone in a vaguely humanoid form, ranging from a few inches to 20' tall. Those akaz who are the locus of a region or major landscape feature may take different forms based on those features. Cavern akaz are usually part of the walls, ceilings, or floors of the caverns. Hill or mountain akaz take form from the earth and stone of those features. Certain forms of loam, dirt, or mud might take on slightly different characteristics. Those who embody whole layers of the world, tectonic plates, or even full continents have unique forms, usually taking on more complicated features of those beings that dwell there. Gems, fragments of stone, layers of mud are all common parts of any akaz. Their eyes are always made of unrefined gems.
Procreation Akaz do not reproduce, but occur naturally in areas of great earthpower.
Esoterica Akaz are beings of earthpower. Weak akaz can only use earthpower aether in minor ways. Major akaz, those who embody major regions, mountains, caverns, plates, or layers usually have other powers based on what beings and energies are present within their domains.
Special Powers Akaz can wield earthpower aether with their hands, shaping earth and stone. The breath of an akaz can petrify the flesh of a target, and the gaze of an akaz can lull someone into a sense of security (real or imagined). If an akaz is the locus of a region or major landscape feature, they gain other powers based on that feature. Mountain akaz can shift paths on their mountain. Cavern akaz can shift stalagm/tites and passages around. Tectonic akaz can cause earthquakes.
Collective Powers If 12 or more akaz gather in an area, their powers amplify. If they are all of similar form, they can unite into a single akaz, thus becoming a more powerful being, eventually coalescing into a locus, taking on the form and powers of their locale. If these keep combining in greater quantity, they eventually coalesce into a greater elemental.
Elementalism

Akaz can bond with beings that are already beings of earthpower aether (especially dwarves, chthonians, knockers, etc.) or beings who practice arts of earthpower aether, but only if the akaz chooses to. An akaz must breathe into the person they wish to bond with. If the person has innate earthpower energy, the bond is automatic. If the person is a user of earthpower aether, they must be actively using it when the bond happens. Once the bond happens, the mortal who is bonded gains powers from the akaz depending on their own powers, personality, and species. The akaz will gain powers from species who have innate earthpower energy.

Forced bonding (capturing) is only possible using other powers (ethereal energy, yahas, parasitic energy, imperium, mana), which weakens the bond, but allows the user to draw power from the akaz. They essentially use the akaz as a battery of earthpower energy or to draw specific powers or characteristics.

Druids can commune with akaz through druidic meditation. If the akaz has a locus, the druid can commune with them if they are in the locus; otherwise, the druid must be near the akaz itself. Communion with an akaz gives the druid the power to draw direct earthpower, to mimic akaz powers, to sense everything within the akaz's locus, and/or to communicate with the akaz.

Weaknesses Brown aether can kill an akaz. Winds aether can weaken them. Being removed from their locus or the world/earth they are an elemental of can weaken them.
Behavior Akaz live in collectives forming greater akaz, but these collective forms retain the memories and personalities of all akaz within. These collectives have a combined will and individuals wills, but the individuals only stand out if they are distinct enough. Most are so similar they become invisible within the collective. Individual akaz who are not part of a greater elemental tend to the earth and stone around them, harvesting the aether for strength, and protecting the world. Of all viridianites, akaz are among the most attuned to the world itself, and they take very seriously the task of protecting it. They especially hate brown aether, those who create and use it, and they will attack and kill those often without hesitation.
Mortal Interactions Mortals are usually completely unaware of akaz, but those who know of them view them positively and leave them tributes (usually fruits or vegetables covered in dirt). they are usually seen as protectors of the natural world. Those who seek to landscape, industrialize, or pollute often find akaz cause them difficulties and try to drive them out, leading to major conflicts, unless they find a way to distract the akaz (drawing them away from their locus) or isolate and weaken them, hence why many industrialists or developers or even large farmers build windmills near their works during the early phases.
