| Procreation | Adapters can procreate with women/assigned-wonmen of other species, but only ever produce adapters. |
| Touch | The touch of an adapter is filled with Damaskian power. An adapter's knolwedge then empowers the touch to alter the knowledge of those they touch, if they so choose. He can decide the general theme of the information he conveys but not its details. Themes include craft skills, fighting skills, hunting skills, statistics, mathematical skills, analytic skills, artistic skills, scientific skills, athletic skills, etc. The more skin-to-skin contact an adapter has with someone, the more information they can convey. Thus, a full body embrace is more powerful than a brief handshake. However, this is balanced against the knowledge the adapter already has. A weak memory or lack of practice make an adapter unable to inform others. |
| Esoterica | Adapters have natural Damaskian power that fuels their touch, but they can learn Damaskian skills as well. They can use any esoteric power with enough practice and training. |
| Special Powers | The Damaskian power within an adapter makes them naturally skilled at learning new skills of almost any kind. As they grow up, each adapter becomes attached to a specific skill and embodies it, gaining Damaskian power from practicing it. |
| Weaknesses | Denial energy can destroy an adapter. |
| Culture | Adapters live in strict meritocracies. Those who study the skills of leadership are leaders. Those who study war are warriors. Those who study science are scientists. Everyone learns their skills early and sticks to them. Each village has a different leadership structure based on the commonest skills present. However, most common are small councils made up of various skilled leaders. Young adapters usually follow their fathers in studying and practicing, but it is not uncommon for them to latch onto another close relative. Much beyond that is rare and sometimes controversial, but not impossible. There are, however, some very territorial villages that refuse to let their citizens study the skills of their rivals. Adapters who leave their villages trade their skills and their touch for resources. They are often valued by other societies as teachers and trainers and warriors, but mostly, adapters prefer to practice crafts like building, smithing, engineering, and other practical skills. They are often enslaved by other societies. Because of this, their villages have become very xenophobic and untrusting of outsiders, especially those with great resources. Trading is not uncommon, but they have reputations for being very skilled hagglers.
