The Crown Colonies

The region of the continent of Palhur known as the Crown Colonies is a stretch of 900 miles along the far southern coast of the continent just north of the vast mountains that separate the continent from the southern polar ice. It is a temperate region, dominated by forest, low mountains and hills, and the occasional grassland or swamp to the north.

It is called the Crown Colonies as shorthand for “the Colonies of the White Crown Concordance”, though there are many parts of the world that fit this description.

A little under 400 years prior to the campaign, the empires of the east (united as the White Crown Concordance) began colonizing the area, coming into conflict with the various native populations and finding the region difficult to effectively conquer. Eventually, their incursions into the area forced the local native nations to unite into what is now known as the Waya Federation. War after war led to a tense situation.

Eventually, 13 years before the campaign, 16 of the colonial cities rebelled against imperial rule, seeking independence - not liberation, but their own agency in exploiting and conquering - and formed the League of Sovereign Cities. While still part of the empires, they have more autonomy now in the wake of the rebellion.

Green Meadows

Green Meadows is a small area where a cluster of communities converge. Refugees fleeing imperial violence, a native village, escaped slaves, a mining camp, a logging camp, and a group of bandits each have a safe haven in this small area outside one of the Sovereign Cities, and this is where the campaign would start.
