To get by in society, however, they pretend to be sparrowhawk folk, mimicking their coloration and role in society.

Those among them who reject these traditions are mocked and outcast.

Great Crested Grebe Folk: 5’ tall anthropomorphic grebes. An imperial nation who have long made the colonial lands a vacation home, they were once nomadic and now live double lives, keeping special homes in the colonies and in the imperial core. They are known for their hatred of children, pawning off their own to boarding schools or servants, raising them to replicate their hatred. The origins of this cultural prejudice is unknown, but some believe they engage in child sacrifice as well.

Hooded Crow Folk: 5’ tall anthropomorphic crows. The crow folk of the empires have been seduced to power. They are part of the ruling classes, colonizers from Crow’s Reach, where they are manipulative, cruel tyrants. They have magical powers of manipulation and contracts that they wield to control the oppressed. Those few who reject this culture are themselves oppressed.

[Common] Kestrel Folk: 6’ tall anthropomorphic kestrels. A nation of raptor folk who are part of the imperial forces who came to conquer and control. They are extremely arrogant as a culture, and those who do not make the grade as warriors are cast out and scorned.

Least Weasel Folk: 4’ tall anthropomorphic weasels. Ruthlessly ambitious, the weasel folk of the colonies are a major part of the ruling class. They have crushed others to become more powerful and wealthy, joining their imperial cousins in the halls of power. Their original culture is long since forgotten, and they have assimilated into the wider culture of the empires. Those few who reject it find only fragments of what once was.

Known for their use of blood magic and their cultural belief that they have the right to exploit, steal, and feed off the work of others, they are a nation of skua (water bird) folk that has long been part of the ruling class along the coasts of the empires. They are enthusiastic in their role as colonizers.

[European] Perch Folk: 4’ tall anthropomorphic perch. These fish folk have forgotten their original culture in favor of the Church of the One, sometimes called the One True God, a powerful organized religion out of Harkanheim, one of the major empires of the east. They are extremely fanatical and often proselytize, and anyone who rejects their religion is cast out or killed.

[Common] Shrew Folk: 3’ tall anthropomorphic shrews. A nation of shrew folk living in the cities. Their small nation developed into a major force even before they took up being colonizers, taking slaves and developing patriarchal customs, and after a brief conflict, quickly sided with the colonizers early on. They are known for their cruel treatment of women within their culture, which they practice out of fear for the liberating power they once held. A group of them broke off long ago and sought to maintain the old ways, and in spite of attempts to wipe them out, they still survive among the oppressed..

Sperm Whale Folk: 9’ tall anthropomorphic sperm whales. These whale folk believe in a form of predestination, claiming that anything bad that happens to people is the will of their god, the Six-Tailed Whale. Their faith is one that refuses the right of the oppressed to better their lives - saying it is an affront to the Divine Will - and very convenient to the ruling powers among them.

Stingray Folk: 6’ tall anthropomorphic stingrays. Coming from the eastern parts of the oceans, these folk are part of the Church of the Redeemer. They hold themselves as elite and predestined to salvation, and thus, they believe they can do anything in life.

[Atlantic] Sturgeon Folk: 7’ tall anthropomorphic sturgeons. They once were prominent in the empires, but more live now in the colonies than not. They are a ruling class nation devoted to maintaining a specific narrative, one that keeps the oppressed ignorant, and controlling education and information.

They are very rich and powerful as a nation.

They are a major ruling class nation, one that is considered arrogant and cruel by those they oppress, but well respected among the powerful.

A small nation of big folk, the walrus nation of the colder reaches are known for their trading acumen, their cunning, and their use of every advantage in pursuit of what they want. They were once a hunter-gatherer culture, but they assimilated into the empires long ago and became one of the more powerful ruling class nations in their localities. Now they have come to the colonies seeking distinct advantages there.

Some few resist the violence of their minds long enough to be functional.

Wild Boar Folk: 6' tall boar folk with dark grey fur, massive tusks, piggy eyes, and hooves and tails. They have a tradition of using baleblood to empower themselves, and many of them end up becoming baleful. They joined the colonization as a powerful force of shock troops and conquerors, and they consider themselves the most elite soldiers of the imperial militaries. They are known for their extreme violence and racism. Many older boar families are extremely wealthy.

[Eurasian] Wolf Folk: 6’ tall anthropomorphic wolves. Many wolf people came over the seas from the empires. Some few have rejected these ways, but they are oppressed and rejected by the more powerful wolf folk.
