Fiorire

Considered the birthplace of modern art and cultural movements, Fiorire is a major financial center as well. It is ruled by the Niccolini family. It is said to be stalked by a killer known as il Mostro, named for the river and his apparent actions.

A major river port on the Fiume Mostro (a river named for the huge river beasts in it), sitting at the crossroads of the Via Centrale and Via Lunga, it is an important imperial trading city. It rests on both sides of the river, connected by a series of ferries controlled by the duke. Crossing the river comes at a price based on how laden your wagons are; docking here costs as well. Many deals are made here. The river is the heart of the city. It is known for its trumpeteers, its violent storms, its twisted trees, and its nine-circled palace.

The Guild of Merchants and Money Changers is headquartered here.

Landmarks

1. Basilica della Penitenza, the Cathedral of Repentance: the largest cathedral in the city, dedicated to the Imperial Faith. It is a masterpiece of architecture, painting, and design. It has a massive dome and bell tower that are seen throughout the city.
2. i Boschi Reali, the Royal Woods: the stretch of forest in the southern part of the city that was once the hunting grounds for the king, when once there was one.
3. Casa dell'Opera, the Fiorire Opera House: a gorgeous opera house on the Strada Reale, just south of the City of Splendor. It is patroned by the Niccolini family.
4. Città dello Splendore, City of Splendor: the walled off area around il Palazzo dei Nove Anelli, where massive manors, small palaces, and the other well-guarded homes of the nobilty and super rich are.
5. Fiume Mostro: the massive river running through the city, home to a major river monster.
6. Grande Galleria, Great Gallery: the art gallery patroned by the Niccolini family, open to the public and featuring the works of Fiorire's greatest artists.
7. Mercato di Fiume, the River Market: the massive market square just south of the Main Ferry where people come to ply their wares from all over the region.
8. Moli Fluviali, the River Docks: the docks, controlled by the Niccolini family and the Merchants and Money Changers Guild in a tense deal, where ships bring goods from all over the region.
9. Murale per Bambini, the Children's Mural: a beautiful painting by a forgotten artist on the Muro del Guardino, depicting beautiful, cherubic innocent children under the light and grace of the Imperial Divines.
10. Muro del Guardiano, the Guardian Wall: the massive wall around the City of Splendor. It features the Murale per Bambini on its western edge.
11. il Palazzo Divino, the Divine Palace: the smaller palace next to the Royal Woods where Re Beletto Divino lives. It was once his royal palace and the seat of power here, but it has fallen into disrepair.
12. il Palazzo dei Nove Anelli, the Palace of Nine Rings: the massive, 1.5 mile circular palace along the river in the middle of the City of Splendor. It is where the Niccolini family lives along with hundreds of servants and guards.
13. Palude Meridionale: the swamp in the south on the edge of the city.
14. Palude Settentrionale: the swamp in the north on the edge of the city.
15. Sala Bianca: the barracks of the Guardia Bianca outside the City of Splendor.
16. Strada Reale, the Royal Road: the small road from the forest to the City of Splendor that once took tolls for the king. It is now a toll road for the Niccolinis.
17. Tomba di San Salvo, the Tomb of Saint Salvo: on the north side of the city, this tomb is where San Salvo, an ancient martyr for the Imperial Faith, rests.
18. Traghetto dei Contadini, the Peasant's Ferry: the ferry between the South Ferry and the Royal Ferry, it is considered the cheapest ferry and used by peasants and workers.
19. Traghetto Principale, the Main Ferry: the ferry where Via Centrale and Via Lunga intersect, it is used by the majority of people.
20. Traghetto Reale, the Royal Ferry: the ferry northernmost and nearest the City of Splendor. It is the most expensive, but it is free to the nobility.
21. Traghetto del Sud, the South Ferry: the southernmost ferry, it is on the edge of the swamps. It is the least used.
22. Università di Fiorire: on the north side of the city, this is city's university where the elite study.
23. Via Centrale: the road from Fiorire to Allettare, one of the old imperial highways.
24. Via Lunga: the road from Santamaria to Assembratta, running through Fiorire, one of the old imperial highways. The Long Road.
25. la Zecca, the Mint: headquarters of the Merchants and Money Changers on the north side of the city.
