The archives of the Church of Music claim that Jack Crane wrote this song just before the contest. It appears to be a work expressing his love and devotion to those with whom he worked in the contest. Lyrically, it shows a simplicity from before even his start as a musician, and one can only speculate that he intended to make it more complex in performance, though some speculate that it was never performed except privately. Some scholars have identified deffinite and specific references to the core members of the original Colour of Sound, and note the absence of any reference to those from the Furies, before the two bands merged. Also strangely absent is any reference to Dionysus Berrywright, known to have been with the Colour since the inception of the contest. Speculation runs that Jack was with the Sound longer than the Furies, and had worked with them far more extensively, and that Jack omitted references to Dionysus at the Saint's own request--it is known that Dionysus Berrywright was a very low key individual.
Verse 1:
I fell in the mud
I felt the hand
As he pulled me up and made me to stand
We marched on again
Through the blowin rain
We sang the joy and we felt the pain
Id do it all again
Would not change a thing
If you were there to help me sing
You are a part of me
You are my family
We are blind but together we see
Chorus:
I am a brother, I am a man
I am with you when we make our stand
Hand in hand, For gods and land
We are the band.
Verse 2:
I tried to drown my fear
Of dues unpaid
And one tried to count on plans unmade
An eye for beauty dark
And fate so stark
And youthful innocence a bloody mark
With music as our guide
We soldiered on
We took the shortcuts and the journey long
Without our blessed wings
We flew so high
In face of fear we would not let
Each
Other
Die
CHORUS
Bridge:
There is a love between brother and friend that defies the words of men
We are the heart of a single beast when the darkness closes in
And the blind shall lead
Verse 3:
The dreaming prince awakes
Blind prophet sees
The laughing soldier calms the fearful seas
A thinker in the void
And beauty strong
The drummer sound the call endurance long
Through dungeons deep
And demons vile
We try to stand together to face the trial
I can face anything
If you are here
So take my hand and there is nothing we will fear
CHORUS
CHORUS
