Sue Creation would seem to be a logical choice for virtually everything.

Sue The other ones I want to check would be Earth, Cosmos, Moon, and Science.

Sue Oh, and Harvest, for rations.

Dionysus I might also suggest wealth.

Sue Goes there at the suggestion of someone he talks to?

Sue Also he would try to factor in redundancy - so there would be two antigravity drives, two inertial dampening field generators, and two friction shield generators.

Dionysus So you're gonna want ot get double of everything?

Sue Well, there will only be one ship's hull.

Sue Everything that could potentially break has to have a spare, or failing that, supplies to make repairs.

Dionysus Gotchya.

Dionysus One moment

Sue No rush.

Dionysus Okay, you need 2 large void sources, one moderate void source, & 3 small ones. You need a lot of copper wire & copperplating. You need three sets of switches. 30 lbs of magnesium, 2 gallons of sulfuric acid, a moderateheat source, 2 fire-resistant jars, 2 air tight rooms, a copper coil, a centrifuge.a sheet of lead or silver, a gallon of hydrogen peroxide, a glass jar with a silveror lead lid, 30 lb of tit

Dionysus anium in small quantities, & 2 gallons of carbonic acid.

Dionysus And twice almost all of that

Dionysus So... Copper can be found in the earth & creation & science sections.

Dionysus Magnesium can be found in the science section, but not thirty pounds of it. In the creation section, you can find a very little of it.

Dionysus Sulfuric acid is in short supply, only maybe a few small jars of it in the science section.

Dionysus A moderate heat source? Depends on what you want.

Dionysus The jars are very expensive, & only in the science section

Sue Everything I can find a small quantity of can be duplicated by a shemir, right?

Dionysus The air tight room yer gonna have to build yerself.

Dionysus The centrifuge is exceptionally expensive in the science section, & even more expensive in the cosmos section.

Sue Rooms will be part of the shipbuilder's fee, I think.

Dionysus Everything can be duplicated by a sufficiently skilled shemir, for the right price

Dionysus Lead or silver is easy to find. The silver is a bitpircey.

Dionysus Hydrogen peroxide is utterly unfindable.

Sue Oh, dear.

Dionysus Titanium is only findable in the creation section, & there only a very little bit of it.

Dionysus And the carbonic acid is the same as the sulfuric in quantity & accessibility

Sue How was the hydrogen peroxide described in the ancient texts?

Dionysus In void texts, it's described as hydrogen peroxide. The texts date from the Age of Miracles on First Shem.

Sue Okay, so I need to do some research. Chemistry falls under Science, right?

Dionysus Yes.

Dionysus Most easily, though variants fall in other areas as well.

Sue I will seek out chemistry texts from the Age of Miracles.

Dionysus In the science area, the "temple" is a school, & the library is a school library. The texts you find here are in shemir language, or cephalan language, or some are in ancient tongues you can't read.

Sue I guess I'll ask a librarian for help.

Dionysus "Hmm, what are you seeking specifically?"

Sue "Instructions on the synthesis of hydrogen peroxide."

Dionysus He frowns, "That's a long lost art."

Dionysus "Let me see..."

Dionysus He scans over the books, then stops on one & pulls it out. "This might help. Do you know ancient cephalanic from First Shem?"

Sue "No, but I am prepared to hire a translator."

Dionysus "Hmm, yes, you would have to. Magicks wouldn't work on you, would they?"
  • Sue shakes his head. "It's generally not worthwhile to try."
Dionysus "I think Homnas knows the tongue. You might ask him, upstairs."
  • Sue nods, almost a bow. "Thank you." He goes upstairs to find Homnas and determine his fee.
Dionysus Homnas is measuring a pendulum's swing.
  • Sue waits for an appropriate moment to interrupt, then says, "Padron me, I'm looking for a translator."
Dionysus He looks up at you & blinks, "Never invented that, yet."
  • Sue offers the book to him. "I need information on the synthesis of hydrogen peroxide."
Dionysus He frowns, then looks at the book. He flips through, opens it to a page, & reads a moment, then holds it out to you. "I was never much for chemistry, but I can translate it."
  • Sue nods lightly, accepting the book back for now. "Excellent. What is your fee?"
Dionysus He frowns, looks you up & down, "I could use a pint of athak blood."
  • Sue gawks at him for a moment, then relaxes, asking, "Oh, you mean void oil?"
Dionysus "No, I mean your blood, sir."

Dionysus "My brother is a biologist specializing in subterranean life forms."
  • Sue nods slowly. "Very well. Here," he offers the book again, "begin your translation ... I will return tomorrow with the sample."
Dionysus He nods & takes th ebook. "Certainly."

Sue How much time is left before my meeting with the Greater Athaks?

Dionysus That was supposed to be this day? If so, an hour or so.

Sue I thought it was. Okay, I'll go back and get ready.

Dionysus Where were you to mee tthem?

Sue Do athaks meet for lunch?

Sue If so, somewhere near the void church. Otherwise, I guess, in a room near the church.

Sue er a room in the church

Dionysus They do meet for lunch. There's a small inn near the temple where they serve athak-food.
  • Sue goes there and requests a table for four and some tea and biscuits or something.
Dionysus Snacks are brought. Two of the athaks arrive on time.

Dionysus Kahuzux is the one you met the other day.

Dionysus Ozix is a different one. He glances at the food you've ordered disdainfully, then orders something more expensive.

Sue "Good afternoon. Thank you both for coming."

Dionysus "Voth probably forgot. His caretaker will bring him along soon," Kahuzux says. "What can we do for you?"
  • Sue shifts in his seat. "Well, I need to contact the moons. I'm working on building a transport, but I might be able to avoid all that if there were some other way of communicating over the distance."
Dionysus They look to each other, then Ozix says, "What could you possibly have of worth to say?"

Dionysus Kahuzux says, "I know of no such way."
  • Sue tilts his head slightly at Ozix. "That depends on who I am speaking with. Are you familiar with the musician's contest?"
Dionysus "What would I to do with musicians?"

Dionysus An elderly greater athak is lead to the table by a shemir youth. "Master Voth is here to join you, sirs."
  • Sue starts to answer, but then addresses Voth. "Yes, thank you for coming. I am Subiquim."
Dionysus Voth says, "Eh? Suzinin? I thought you were dead!"
  • Sue glances at the caretaker. "No, Subiquim. You can call me Sue. I'm quite well."
Dionysus The caretaker just pats Voth's arm & smiles. "Never heard of you. What can I do for you?"

Dionysus Voth says

Sue "I don't suppose you know a way of communicating with the moons?"

Dionysus "Eh? There's the tsukikumas, yeah? When's the next ship, Radley?" The caretaker says, "I'll have to check later, Voth."
  • Sue nods. "Well, as I was saying, there is a currently a contest going on. The greatest musicians in the world are racing to obtain a unique composition from each of the empires on shem and its moons. That is why I am building a lunar transport."
Dionysus Ozix scoffs. "That's enough of that. I've better things to do today." He stands abruptly & starts to leave.

Dionysus Voth says, "Oh, Radley, do you remember the tune 'Hollandrux Drozzon'?" The caretaker shakes his head, "I'm afraid not."

Dionysus Kuhuzux says, "Don't mind Ozix. I'd love to see such a thing, Sue. How might I help you build it?"
  • Sue looks up at Ozix and then to Kuhuzux. "Er, well, the libraries and merchants in the city are supplying me with the information and materials needed to build the transport. But, I will also need information about the destination."
Dionysus "I can help there, though it might be out of date."

Sue "Yes, anything will be helpful. Language, customs, geography."

Dionysus He gives you a lot of that. Remind me to write it up for you later. That's a good thing to just put on a wiki page for later.
  • Sue takes lots of notes.
Sue So I learn about the lunar races, including the gith, arcanes, etc?

Dionysus He tells you about his own home, where there are not many other races. You learn only of the gith that they are a piratical race. Arcanes are wandering merchants.

Dionysus But you do learn a little of some of the other races.

Dionysus He had limited contact

Sue ok

Sue Is there anything we should get to impress the locals? Does Voth have any input?

Dionysus Voth gives a little info, but not much. He's mostly confused about who you are. Also, his caretaker's name is Thaed. "Radley" is someone Voth knew a long time ago. I'll give you more info on the moons later. There's a lot to type up, & it's not likely to come up before the end of the session.

Sue "I'm also looking for information on an entity known as the Never."

Dionysus Kuhuzux frowns, "I've, err, never heard of it."

Dionysus Voth mumbles about a girl he once knew.
  • Sue nods. "I know little other than that it has a connection to the void-father." He pauses. "Do you think Ozix might know something?"
Dionysus Kuhuzux shakes his head, "Not likely. He hated Uur Sodzul, he hates the void, & he hates other athaks."

Sue "Why? What happened to him?"

Dionysus "He fell in love with a magen girl."
  • Sue startles. "In Uur Sodzul?"
Dionysus That's the athak empire on the moon

Dionysus Oh

Sue yeah

Dionysus "No, when he came here."

Sue "I suppose it did not work out between them?"

Dionysus "She ran off with a shemir. He came here to find her, & never did. He settled down & has spent his time here collecting old magical items, which fade & die in our part of town."

Sue "I can how that would be a frustrating hobby. How long ago was this?"

Dionysus He frowns, "Thirty years ago?"

Dionysus Voth says, "he was here when I arrived."

Sue "How long have you been on Shem, Voth?"

Dionysus Voth says, "Couldn't be more than a year or two."

Dionysus His caretakler says, "On Shem, he's been here maybe 70 years. In Madziar, maybe 15."
  • Sue nods. "Well. Is there anything I can do for you?"
Dionysus Kuhuzux smiles, "Just keep me updated on your progress."

Dionysus Voth says, "Give Danat my best."

Dionysus The caretaker smiles, "No, thank you."
  • Sue considers asking about Danat, but just says. "I'll do that. Thank you again. I must check in with my band now." He pays for the snacks he ordered and goes back to the inn where the band is staying.
  • Sue gets the chemistry book. He asks the cephalon to let him know if there are any interesting results.
Sue With the blood, I mean.

Dionysus Noted. Hold on.

Dionysus It unusefully tells you to react barium peroxide with hydrochloric acid, followed by sulfuric acid. Usefully, the part about making barium peroxide was also translated, but I can't find it on wikipedia.
  • Sue takes this information to a chemist.
Dionysus Ahh, you need to get barium salts & decompose them, then mix the resultant barium oxide with oxygen in a reaction.

Dionysus In other words, you need to find barium oxide.

Dionysus The chemist says he can do the reacting for you, but he' gotto be supplied with the barium oxide.
  • Sue goes around the markets again looking for some barium oxide.
Dionysus You're told the best place to find it is certain rare mines in Akazad or Myrmexia.

Sue That figures.

Dionysus But that they don't really have much up here. It's not a heavily scientific age at the moment, & the city reflects the age

Sue How much would it help if I had a shemir helping me full-time?

Dionysus What do you mean? Doing what?

Sue Duplicating.

Sue It seems everything is available in small quantities, but I need relatively large quantities.

Dionysus To duplicate all the things you need, you'll need a powerful shemir. So it will be very costly (& not money).

Sue Can I petition one? Is there a shemir anywhere that we can join forces with?

Sue er, i mean, a band of shemir

Sue i guess they wouldn't be powerful, though

Dionysus If you look for a band of shemir, lemme know & we'll play that course. As for powerful ones, the most powerful are in the creation area, & if you seek them out, you find most of them enveloped in auras similar to the one Aldo was enveloped in.

Sue Hah, that figures. Actually, I'll try a different tack and check Moon Town before going back to the music district.

Dionysus Crescent Mile is shaped appropriately. What do you seek exactly?

Sue Information on travel and communication to the moons.

Dionysus You get a lot of the same info on travel to the moons--not been much recently, your racial traits would get in the way, gith in the way, etc. Communication... They tell you that if you know any non-athaks, they have a moondrop gem that will allow you to try to contact lunarians. Butit will be costly.

Sue Can they tell me anything on getting past the gith?

Dionysus "Speed, stealth, or superior weaponry. The first or second is the best way, as their weapons are hard to beat."

Sue Has there been any word of lunar natives participating in the contest?

Dionysus You've not heard anything.

Dionysus Err, they've not.

Sue ok

Sue How much does it cost to rent and to buy the gem?

Sue 0.0001% of the moonship budget?

Dionysus For you? It would cost Manny.

Sue The owner of the gem would trade it for Manny?

Dionysus Yes.

Sue I'll pass on that for now.
