Sleigh beggeys live in small, roving packs on cold, rocky islands. They terrorize mortals or other fey nearby. They feed off the rotting flesh of carrion they produce from their prey, which they store in the cold of their caves. When they get too full, they sometimes rip themselves in half to produce new sleigh beggeys. Both sleigh beggeys have the memories of the old one, but go on to become new individuals. There are no sleigh beggey children. Gender is irrelevant.

Though they seem chaotic and wild, sleigh beggeys are cunning and methodical. Each pack has a leader, an ard-art, who is usually the toughest, meanest, most cruel among them. These ard-arts negotiate with other packs, engage in trade and territorial agreements, and tactically lead the pack in their roving and hunting. They have no formal national structure.

When sleigh beggeys are not hunting, they engage in rough, physical sports like wrestling and a rough version of football. Food is controlled by the ard-art, who guards the coldest chambers of the cave. There is always a fight for who gets the most even as the ard-art doles it out. This creates a basic hierarchy in the pack, but this never remains the same for long.
