The legendary objects of Shem are called "Gifts," or "Gifts of the Gods." They are said to have been made by the gods, and there are many of them--though perhaps less than some think, for some have different names in different cultures. Famous Gifts include the following:

• The Sword of Fame, which makes its user known to all the world
• The Sword of Crowns, which grants its user authority over others
• The Everlasting Torch, a torch that never goes out
• The Tome of All Knowledge, an aptly named book
• The Eye of the Creator, a bauble that shows the truths behind the making of things
• The Ship of Skytreading, a ship that flies
• The Talisman of Algor, which causes the wearer to grow cold, but more aware
• The Impregnable Shield, a shield that could never be beaten

And so on. Hundreds exist in the world, but there are billions of people.
