| Description | A shellen resembles a short, usually slightly plump, human (about 3' to 4' tall). Adults have a large shell they carry on their back (normally like a large snail's shell). |

| Special Powers | A shellen is born without a shell. As they grow, they begin to make a shell for themselves, crafting it from a special humor they can produce magically from their hands (imagine spinning a clay pot out of thin air). They have the ability to sense when they reach their home. While a shellen has his shell, he is quite comfortable. He is capable of carrying a wide array of things within his shell, which is surprisingly spacious. They have the normal halfling abilities of fear resistance & taunting. They are also fair at learning languages. |

| Culture | Shellen leave home between the ages of 15 & 21, seeking their true home. Very rarely do shellen find their true home before the age of about 35, even if they walk over it a hundred times. They first see the world. When they do find their home, they break their shell & build a house, placing their shell fragments into the construction. What they collectedin their travels also becomes part of the home. If two shellens fall in love & find their homes are not near to each other (or even concurrent), they usually break up. The love stories of shellen who have kept their shells til death to stay with a loved one are popular fictions amongst shellen children. If a shellen finds his home is where another being is, he will do almost anything to make them move away. In shellen towns & cities, a town council arbitrates this process, but in other places, very bad things might happen. A shellen who has found his home but kept his shell is an outcast. |
