The next closest is Sharug Zul'bane, the swamp troll he recommends for bos'n. Sharug is noted to spend a lot of time in a tavern nearby, gambling. The tavern's got Maggaur's flag in it, too. The place is rowdy, rough, ugly as hell. Mostly populated by humanoid races--ogres, trolls, goblins, that sort of thing. All of them are /big/ guys or gals. You note two swamp trolls in the room, but only one is male.

Rosiel strolls towards him, unconcerned by the size of them's fill the room.

The guy is about 9 feet tall, slender for a troll, covered in sailor's tattoos, one eyed, clearly missing a tusk. He has a huge cutlas belted to his side by a garish red sash, & he is intent upon his game. Playing cards with him are a couple of reevers you don't recognize (a greater goblin & an ettin) & a third you do recognize: a rock troll named Burugaan Damork, who once nearly killed you when you sailed for the Dawn.

Rosiel eyes Burugaan thoughtfully for a moment, then directs her attention back to the swamp troll. "You Sharug Zul'bane?"

He glances up then immediately his eyes go back to hi cards,"Who's aksin'?

Rosiel says, "Rosiel Rhea."

One half of the ettin bellows in fear, while the other half eyes you warily. The greater goblin jumps out of his chair & stares in fear. Burugaan just looks up in horror. Sharug, on the other hand, glances up again, then immediately looks back at his cards.

"You's dead"

Rosiel gives Burugaan a look that says she hasn't decided yet whether she has time for him, then says to Sharug, "I'm back."

"You's back in the way that means you's gonna blow up hot when a Gruesomic yells at ya funny? Or you's just back in the way that means it take a sword or two to keep you down?"

He means 'Graysonic,' he's just crude & juvenile

Rosiel claims, "Death can't stop me and the Hells can't hold me, but I'm no thing of the Grey Hag's."

He grunts. "I got a pair of aces & a pair of pussies, boys." Burugaan looks back at him, "You cheatin' barstud!"

At this point, a general brawl breaks out at the table.

Rosiel steps back and waits to see how Sharug handles himself.

The ettin tries to grab both the trolls & the goblin steps back. Sharug has his cutlas out quickly, knocking Burugaan away, but the ettin grabs him. The goblin jumps in to punch Sharug at this point, but Sharug kicks him away, despite having his arms grabbed.

Buru' grabs a chair & flings it at Sharug, hitting him & the ettin in the faces. The ettin is clearly stronger than everyone else in this room. The goblin manages to stand up, staggering. The ettin falls backward, after the chair hit him, bringing Sharug with him. Sharug, still being held, manages to backward headbutt one of the ettin's heads unconscious.

The ettin still manages to get up with Sharug in his arms, but as he's standing the goblin & Buru' hit him at the same time. He collapses... on top of Sharug.

The other two pull sharp weapons.

Buru' has a nasty looking shortsword, which is a dagger in his hands. The goblin has a batsard sword. They are moving for the pile.

Sharug is managing to lift the ettin on his shoulders.

Rosiel says, "Enough."

Buru' grunts, "Piss off, witch."

At which point, Sharug tosses the ettin at him & the goblin. He hits them, & they fall back toward Rosiel. But she apparently dance over them like some sort of... angel.

Quothar Sharug spits on the heap of them, looks at you & says, "Good of you to help out," clearly a bit sarcastically. Then he pulls his pistol & shoots.

The goblin's head promptly jerks back & leaks blood from 'tween his eyes.

Buru' manages to push the ettin off himself, then rears back with his knife & brings it down... into the ettin's heart.

Rosiel says, "You had things under control."

"More than you know," he grins.

Quothar Buru' grins at Sharug, "You almost killed me, you barstud."

Sharug shrugs.

Rosiel nods speculatively.

Sharug grunts, "You's nearly bunged the whole con with yer theakricks."

Buru' spits, "I didna expeck Rosiel fuckin' Rhea to walk in, now did I?"

Sharug grins.

"What you want wit' me, Rosiel fuckin' Rhea?" Sharug asks.

"I need a bos'n."

He eyes you through his one good eye, "I's been a bos'n before."

"Interested in being one again?"

"But I's not been to sea in eight years. Need a damned good reason to go back."

"Gold. Power."

He snorts, "As a bos'n? Ha! I may gets golds, but I's had golds before. I's gets plenty golds playin' cards, too. When I quit t' seas, I quits for a damned good reason."

"And what was that reason?"

"Urug' Matak took me eye, dammit, without bein' near me 't all. From the deck of the Dawn to the deck of the Hunter, he just reached out & took me own damned eye! How can a barstud go to sea when monsters like that exist?" Matak was a storm troll, & Rosie don't recall him bein' able to do that.

Rosiel says, "I plan to see the Ragged Dawn and all aboard sunk so far that not even the Night Storm will be able to touch them."

Buru' & Sharug look at you, impressed, but wary. A lot of people in the tavern stare as well. Sharug says, "Den we should talk."

Rosiel looks impassive but for that bit of raw hatred that touches her features whenever the Dawn is brought into conversation. Rosiel nods. "Got a place for it?"

He grunts, "Me an' Buru' got a shack out way."

"Lead the way."

He leads the way, & Buru' follows. It's a lean-to on the side of a warehouse.

Rosiel follows. Amarcus still with her, though during the fight he got the hell away. Inside the shack, it's cramped. Amarcus just stands outside the door, indicating he'll wait.

Rosiel nods to him.

Inside, Sharug says, "Okay, tell's what ya got."

Rosiel doesn't got that much, now he says it, "I want Jowan Gheer dead, and all them as follow him. For that, I need a ship and a crew that can rival the Dawn. You came highly recommended."

"Gheer's invinkable," Buru' mutters, "How ya gun' kill 'im?"

"Slowly and painfully. I have leads that might bring weapons that will do it, and I've picked up a few tricks of my own." She starts focusing a terror spell, enough to let the aura show and revel in the feel for a moment, then lets it go.

Sharug & Buru' step back, & Sharug nods, "Who rec'munded me?"

"Belcorn. My quartermaster."

A look of evil delight fills his eyes, "One helluva quat'rm'ster. You wan' me as yer bos'n, I got two t'ings I want."

"Go on."

"Firs', Buru's me partner. He comes wit'. Sec'd, I's wan' Urug' Matak when time come."

Rosiel looks at Buru. "Got a problem with sailing under my colors?"

"Ya gun' try kill me for almos' killin' you?"

"No. But turn on me, and you'll wish the Black Queen had your soul in her hand."

He grins, "I especk sumtim' like dat. Still, ten year ago, I almos' had you, Cap'n, so you's know my blade's jus' got sharper."

Sharug grins, too. "When we start?"

Rosiel raises her eyebrows at Buru', then simply says, "Tomorrow morning. Manwort's."

They both nod. Sharug says, "We be there."

Rosiel turns and walks out.

"They're in. What do you think of the rock troll?"

"Clever enough to be believable in that fight, & capable in that fight. Has survived ten years or more as a pirate. Tough enough."

"I might set him to guarding you."

He looks back, then says, "And dumb enough to be afraid of me. That might work well."
