| Description | Ruffuns appear to be fat, merry anthropomorphic catfish. They have ray-finned tails and arms and backs. They have barbels on their faces that appear whisker-like. They do not have scales, but are either fine-skinned or armored. Their heads are flattened and their mouths can expand and contract. |
| Procreation | Follows the mother. |
| Magic | One in five million have soul magic. One in a million have heart magic. Mind and body magic are possible. Void is possible. Faith is not uncommon. |
| Special Powers | Ruffuns are rotund, merry mermen. They are negatively bouyant (that is, they sink if they don't swim), and they have mucus-covered skin. They can dig with their fins quite well, and they have suction-mouths. Their fins are hollow and venomous, and the greatest of them can cause earthquakes. They have sharp senses of smell. |
| Weaknesses | Despair magic or faith can hurt them. |
| Culture | Ruffuns are merry kings of their lake homes. They deal well with others, often acting as compassionate listeners, deal makers, and good friends. |
