There are seven different kinds of supernatural jackal:
- ɔkraman (b'qar) [twi] jackals with huge ears that are excellent hunters
- Imbua (d'qiarsea) [kikongo] side-striped jackals with red fur that gain power through d'qiarsea by engaging in brutal fights with one another
- Ingunzu (euergasia) [kinyarwanda] black jackals who are domesticated and work alongside people
- Mimburu (ashar) [nyanja] silver jackals with glowing eyes that are rich with ashar and are said to be able to revive with their breath
- Talak'i Wisha (ginginyuneti) [amharic] beautiful speaking jackals
- Udyakalashe (nzwara murazvo) [xhosa] massive jackals rich with nzwara murazvo who have some influence over other animals
- Xptsab (poarta) [egyptian] ancient Azeti jackals with bright white stripes that guard massive tombs from the undead
