Description Integral gnomes are short (about 3.5'), Their heads are slightly too big for their bodies. They have big noses, wide grins, and human-hued colored hair and skin.
Procreation Gnome breed with each other, where the type of gnome is determined by the mother of the gnome. Breeding with non-gnomes is only possible with supernatural intervention.
Esoterica Gnomes are hegnhic beings who are compelled to obey specific rules. By obeying the rules, they gain insights into systems and mechanism that gives them a supernatural affinity for devices and engineering. Integral gnomes also gain insights into systems through The Law. Gnomes can use almost any supernatural energy except entropy. The most commonly used are Foundation, aether, ethereal essence, yahas, void, mashoaab, damaskian power, dumaqu, arnum, and ordinal power.
Special Powers Integral gnomes have supernatural skill with systems, civil, structural, and industrial engineering and devices. Like all gnomes, they have gnomish illogic damage, wherein their inevitably dangerously failed experiments do not, in fact, hurt them. They also tend to inherently know the structural flaws in any building.
Weaknesses Entropy. If a gnome violates their rules, they become a rogue gnome whose energies are askew and dangerous.
Rules

Integral gnomes must obey three basic rules:

  1. Be as efficient as possible.
  2. Investigate (when possible) the "bones and muscle" of mortal-made objects.
  3. Do not let your work harm the weak.
Culture

Integral gnomes have complex government structures. They delight in redesigning their own governments regularly, seeking perfect efficiency. This had led to direct democracy across most integral gnomes' nations. They have city and rural councils, elected judicial systems, and referendums every few months. Their bureacracies are complicated but efficient, and the gnomes working in them are the only ones who truly understand them--but they understand them perfectly.

Integral gnomes are raised by their parents or community guardians, taught basic math, logic, science, and rules. They begin school at a young age, usually attending community-run schools (which are designed intricately). When they graduate, they are encouraged to study independently or work for an organization that will train them. They work together on major projects. Courtship among integral gnomes usually involves sharing work on designs and devices.

Because of their obsession with efficiency, integral gnomes' clothing is designed practically based on their work, hobbies, and recreation.

Engineering Integral gnomes are skilled with systems, civil, structural, and industrial engineering. The most common uses for this are designing citywide or nationwide systems such as transportation routes and systems, major industrial projects, huge construction projects, and efficiency in workplaces or computer systems. They like working with copper. Because of their rules, they will generally not work on military projects or weapons, and if they discover their inventions have later been used for dangerous purposes, they will actively work to sabotage them.
