The Brass Fist

History

In the earliest days of Shem, when the forces of nature drove mortality, certain members of the primitive societies that existed then noticed & took to revering these forces, seeking power over the world & safety from the ravages of nature. From this primitive idea of nature worship grew organized religion.

By the time the First War of the Gods came to Shem, the churches were completely organized, mighty pillars of civilization, but many had no need to have a martial arm--very few were in open conflict or had need of a policing force. However, the War of the Gods changed all that.

Living outside ka'ar society, lonely dre-ka'ar Yulari al-Taeth was a poor, starving thief on the streets of a Tara'hinian city. He lived in a makeshift tent in a dark alley & stole garbage to eat. He would do tricks with fire for food or coin, if he could, but most days, he was too weak to muster a flame. As the War of the Gods began to arise, he became the object of derision for his beliefs, for every night, he would pray.

As time went by, he came to the notice of a gang of particularly vicious Guardian-supporters. He was hunted through the streets, begging the police for help (but found none, due to his status as a known "vagabond"). He was cornered, & they began to throw stones. He, then, put himself wholly in the hands of his god.

As he prayed, he felt the inner fire return, the heat flared up. As the stones flew toward him, they melted, then evaporated, before they ever touched his body. He burned brightly, turning his own skin to brass amidst the flames, & fought back...

When he returned to ka'ar society, he was raised from the lowest caste to the warrior caste, his inner flame hotter, his skill at fighting greater than any other, for he had the power of Praithur in his veins. He rallied followers from every temple, every alley, every counting house, every school, every place amongst the fire faithful, ka'ar or not, & created the Flamebearers.
