Elemental Names

Though none may speak or fully articulate the True Name of a full Concept, scholars and esotericists have used ancient languages to describe the True Names in terms that loosely identify them. Below are the 48 Names of Elemental Concepts that are the sources of all elemental magic.

Esh-A	Water	The elemental Name of Water refers to all natural water in all its forms. Rivers, oceans, streams, ponds. Rain and puddles. Sleet and snow. Ice and steam.
Esh-Gud	War	The elemental Name of War refers to conflicts in nature of all kinds. It is often associated with natural smoke, which is often a consequence of the more violent conflicts of nature.
Esh-Zidug	Truth	The elemental Name of Truth refers to all things objectively natural, but it is often associated with the power of roots, of deep connections that are found in those roots.
Esh-Itud	Trinity	The elemental Name of Trinity refers to any trinity in nature, but on Shem it most immediately associates with the three Moons.
Esh-Usudra	Time	The elemental Name of Time refers to the natural progression of time itself. The unsullied, inevitable, constantly moving flow of the timestream throughout the cosmos.
Esh-Gidim	Spirit	The elemental Name of Spirit refers to metaphysical magical essence outside of the bodies of living things, often referred to as spirits or, in this case, elementals. It is often associated with flowers, which are said to be the physical blossoming of elemental spirits.
Esh-Gu	Sound	The elemental Name of Sound refers to all natural sounds, from the echoing in canyons to the noise of a waterfall to the sound of the Big Bang itself. Any sound by a natural thing and not some industrial power or mortal endeavor is within this Name.
Esh-Zi	Soul	The elemental Name of Souls refers to the elemental magic found throughout nature. It is often associated with lightning, as the wielding of elemental soul magic generates intense energies.
Esh-Sig	Silence	The elemental Name of Silence refers to all the sources of silence in nature. Anywhere where no natural noise is present is very rare, but quieter places generate magic from this Name. It is often associated most strongly with the desert.

Esh-Ri	Exchange	The elemental Name of Exchange refers to all the ways things are exchanged in nature, from the exchange of sustenance in feeding, to reproductive exchanges, to exchanges of energy across the cosmos. Esh-Urash	Earth	The elemental Name of Earth refers to soil and dirt, rock and stone, gem and geode, cave and cliff, mountain and hill, on any world that has them.
Esh-Mamu	Dream	The elemental Name of Dreams refers to both the dreams that are found in natural organisms and the dreams of nature itself. It manifests as mist, which is inherently magical and contains strange shapes that take form only in the imagination. Mist is the dreams of greater elementals.
Esh-Gul	Destruction	The elemental Name of Destruction refers to all the ways nature destroys. It can be found in what mortals think of as natural disasters. It can be found in acts of creation and change (novae, blackholes, eruptions, earthquakes, floods). It can be found everywhere. But most users associate it with volcanoes and magma and eruptions.
Esh-Namush	Death	The elemental Name of Death refers to natural death. Death uncorrupted by other magicks. Death that occurs in nature, both ruthless and merciful.
Esh-Dim	Creation	The elemental Name of Creation refers to all the ways nature creates (often paired with acts of destruction). The most potent form of creation in nature or the cosmos are novae - supernovae, kilonovae, hypernovae, or regular novae. These are acts of unfathomable power, and mortals can only tap into a fraction of them, often in ways they do not know are connected.
Esh-Mul	Cosmos	The elemental Name of Cosmos (sometimes called the elemental Name of the Stars) refers to the literal cosmos and its vastness. Everything within it is contained in its Name, and thus all Names are contained within it. It is most directly interacted with by mortals via the use of astrological magic, but any cosmic entity or phenomena contain the magic of this Name.
Esh-Addir	Connection	The elemental Name of Connection refers to the ways all things in nature connect to each other. Ecosystems, climate systems, solar systems, galaxies, and more all have potent interactions that connect all of nature and the cosmos. But most find the power of these Connections most in the changing of seasons, in the ways in which time flows in a natural progression that connects neatly one to the other, and affects the ecosystems of the worlds of the cosmos.
Esh-Idim	Chaos	The elemental Name of Chaos refers to all the ways in which nature is chaotic. From the unknown before the Big Bang to the unseeable or unseen forces, interactions, and the generative power of chaos itself. Before there was order, there was chaos. Order spun from it as the universe was created, and thus, chaos is the source of all that is in nature.
Esh-Kam	Change	The elemental Name of Change refers to evolution and other forms of natural change. Evolution is the most profound form of change in living nature, but geological or cosmic changes are also encompassed. Most wielders draw from the energies of evolution, however, the ways in which species adapt to nature and fit in with it.
Esh-Ni	Body	The elemental Name of Body refers to any solid, physical aspect of nature. Most think of earth and stone, metal, or silt and soil in metaphor, or they think of living bodies of animals, plants, fungi, and other organisms. And all of these contain a spark of this Name. But the ones who wield the strongest variation of this magic do so in the form of islands, masses of all of the above surrounded by water so as to distinguish it.
Esh-Ush	Blood	The elemental Name of Blood refers to any blood of any living thing, but is found most powerfully in nature in the blood of prey animals. Blood spilled as the result of the hunt, blood spilled when predator catches prey, that is the natural spilling of blood, and any other form - when hunter or poacher or exterminator kills animals - is not elemental or one with nature.
Esh-Kilim	Animal	The elemental Name of Animals refers to the kingdom of living things classified as animals. It specifically refers to those before domestication or after ferality, but most animals possess some of the energy of this Name.
