Cartesian Grimoire

A collection of infernal spells gathered by thaumaturge Waltheof Carter as a matter of study rather than use, but desired for the rare and ancient spells found within that can be found nowhere else. Sealed away by celestial mages long ago.

Waltheof Carter

Waltheof Carter was an ender who was obsessed with infernal magicks. As a student of the Baradin military's esoteric arms, he had access to imperial archives and was able to collect up to the elite spells, even some rare ones, and eventually, the military paid him to search the world for the most powerful spells he could find that would serve their purposes.

History

After being collected, the grimoire was kept by the Baradinian Empire's esoteric wing, but in the wars of the Eldritch, celestial mages stole it and sealed it away.

Collection

Many, many infernal spells are found in it, and it serves as the basis for many Ansulymic military magic schools.
