Description: Pale, fat demons with feminine forms & yellow eyes & beards. Their bodies are covered in scars & they have razor blades for arms.

Procreation: Belphegori procreate during the Cessation. When they breed with other demons, the child & mother die. When they breed with non-demons, the child & mother die horribly.

Magic: 1/200000 have soul magic, 1/500000 have heart magic. Mind magic is possible, body magic is common. Faith is commonly despair, though darkness, hatred, famine, & destruction crop up. Void use is rare, but possible.

Special Powers: Like other torturers, belphegori can summon the chains of hell, which they use on themselves. They have razor sharp blades for arms, & a strange seductive allure to them. Their screams of agony cause intense melancholy in the listeners. It is a 19 difficulty with despair or darkness to summon or control them, & they are immune to mundane fire or cold.

If summoned by a mage or priest, then bound or controlled, a belphegori can give the summoner brilliant ideas for devices, but will curse it to bring about the controller's ruin. Belphegori can ruin the marriage of any happy beings if they are on the mortal plane once a year.

Culture: Most belphegori are female. All belphegori exist to create misery in others & feed off it. They often gather together in groups called "camps," where they wail in agony & give off their strange allure until victims come by. Midnight crossroads & dark graveyards are their favorite haunts, though out of the way hollows & clearings are also good. Belphegori have no purpose but to suffer & cause suffering. They are powerful, but generally static & useless.

Notables: Nergell, Queen of the Forsaken, mistress of misery, dwells in the Hells, scarring herself & screaming in pain.
